Answer:

The correct answer is 229.5 g

Explanation:

The atomic mass of Aluminium (Al) is 27

atomic mass of Chlorine (Cl) is 35.5

the atomic mass of oxygen is 16

Hence, the molar mass is the addition of the masses all the atoms present in the compound.

It should be noted that the number outside the bracket only affects the atoms in the bracket.

Al = 27 × 1 = 27 g

Cl = 35.5 × 3 = 106.5 g

O = 16 × 2 × 3 = 96 g

Molar mass of Al(ClO₂)₃ is 27 + 106.5 + 96 = 229.5 g

15.0 g of cream at 10.0 ℃ are added to an insulated cup containing 150.0 g of coffee at 78.6 °C. Calculate the equilibrium tempe
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]

Answer:

The equilibrium temperature of the coffee is 72.4 °C

Explanation:

Step 1: Data given

Mass of cream = 15.0 grams

Temperature of the cream = 10.0°C

Mass of the coffee = 150.0 grams

Temperature of the coffee = 78.6 °C

C = respective specific heat of the substances( same as water) = 4.184 J/g°C

Step 2: Calculate the equilibrium temperature

m(cream)*C*(T2-T1) = -m(coffee)*c*(T2-T1)

15.0 g* 4.184 J/g°C *(T2 - 10.0°C) = -150.0g *4.184 J/g°C*(T2-78.6°C)

62.76T2 - 627.6 = -627.6T2 + 49329.36

690.36T2 = 49956.96

T2 = 72.4 °C

The equilibrium temperature of the coffee is 72.4 °C

A new student is planning to use thin layer chromatography (TLC) for his research project. After setting up the apparatus the st
tamaranim1 [39]

Answer:

The open system evaporates the solvent in the solution

Explanation:

An open system is a system in which exchange of materials and energy can occur. If a TLC set up is left open, then the set up constitutes an open system.

During TLC, the sample is dotted on the plate and inserted into a suitable solvent. The solvent moves up the plate and achieves the required separation of the mixture.

Most of these solvents used used TLC are volatile organic compounds. Therefore, if the TLC set up is left open, the solvent will evaporate leading to poor results after running the TLC experiment.

The pressure of 8.40 L of nitrogen gas in a flexible container is decreased to one-half its original pressure, and its absolute
ollegr [7]

Answer:

33.6 L

Explanation:

From the question given above, the following data were obtained from:

Initial volume (V1) = 8.40 L L

Initial pressure (P1) = P

Initial temperature (T1) = T

Final pressure (P2) = one-half the original pressure = ½P

Final temperature (T2) = double the original temperature = 2T

Final volume (V2) =.?

Thus, the new volume of the gas can be obtained as follow:

P1V1/ T1 = P2V2 /T2

P × 8.40 / T = ½P × V2 /2T

P × 8.40 / T = P × V2 / 4T

Cross multiply

T × P × V2 = P × 8.40 × 4T

Divide both side by T × P

V2 = (P × 8.40 × 4T) /T × P

V2 = 8.40 × 4

V2 = 33.6 L

Thus, the new volume of the gas is 33.6 L

What is the volume of 5.8g of H2?
BartSMP [9]
At standard temperature and pressure, one mole of gas occupies 22.4 L. Knowing this, we must convert the grams to moles and moles to liters to get your answer. Here's how you do it!
\frac{5.8gH2}{1} | \frac{1moleH2}{2.0gH2}| \frac{22.4LH2}{1moleH2}   \\  \frac{5.8*1*22.4LH2}{2.0} \\  \frac{129.92LH2}{2.0}  \\ 64.96LH2  \\ 65LH2
With significant figures accounted for, 5.8 grams of hydrogen gas occupies 65 L.

Hope this helps!
