<u>ANSWER: </u>

Zach has 28 dimes and 7 quarters.

<u>SOLUTION: </u>

Given, Zach has 4 times as many dimes as quarters

And they have a combined value of 455 cents,

We need to find how many of each coins does he have?

Let, the number of dimes be x and number of quarters be y.

Then, x = 4y → (1)

Total combined value = 455 cents

x(value of one dime) + y(value of one quarter) = 455 cents

x(10 cents) + x(25 cents) = 455 cents

10x + 25y = 455 → (2)

Now, substitute (1) in (2)

10(4y) + 25y = 455

40x + 25y = 455

65y = 455

y = 7

substitute y value in (1)

x = 4(7)  = 28

Hence, zach has 28 dimes and 7 quarters.

Answer:

a) This expression is simply the average of both of their hours for a full year.

b) Honestly, I'm not sure, but mathematically, its  \frac{Beth's -hours}{Arjun's-hours}, so the hours cancel out and you get the ratio of their yearly hours? Idek

c) a/12 would be the number of hours Arjun worked per month since there are 12 months in a year.

d) This one is a difference between Arjun's hourly wage to Beth's hourly wage. So, it represents how much more Arjun would have made (Arjun's hourly wage) in comparison to Beth, or vice versa (depending on who worked more hours).

c) Similar to a), this is an average of their yearly income.

3/x+2 = 2/x−1 pleasee help
olga_2 [115]
So you have:
\frac{3}{x} + 2  =  \frac{2}{x} - 1&#10;

1) Start off by multiplying both sides by x to simplify the problem:
\frac{3}{x} + 2 = \frac{2}{x} - 1 \\&#10;x(\frac{3}{x} + 2) = (\frac{2}{x} - 1)x\\&#10;3 + 2x = 2 - x&#10;

2) Now isolate the x by moving all terms with x onto one side and all other terms onto the other side:
3 + 2x = 2 - x\\&#10;3x = -1

3) Finally, divide by 3 on both sides to find the value of x:
3x = -1\\&#10;x =  \frac{-1}{3}
