Answer:

Option C, option D and option E is correct

Explanation:

Atomic number of O = 8

Electronic configuration of O = 1s^22s^22p^4

No. of valence electron = 6

Atomic number of S = 16

Electronic configuration of O = 1s^22s^22p^63s^23p^4

No. of valence electron = 6

Atomic number of Ne = 10

Electronic configuration of Ne = 1s^22s^22p^6

No. of valence electron = 8

No. of electron shell present in any atom is equal to principle quantum no.

So, no. of electron shell in O = 2

no. of electron shell in S = 3

no. of electron shell in Ne = 2

O is present in period 2 and group 16.

S is present in period 3 and group 16.

Ne is present in period 2 and group 16.

So, O and S are present in same group. Elements of same group or family display similar chemical properties.

So, among correct options are:

option C: Oxygen and Neon are in the same period and have the same number of electron shells.

Option D: Oxygen and Sulfur have the same number of valence electrons.

Option E: Oxygen and Sulfur are most similar because they are in the same family and have similar chemical properties.

Answer:

from the way I understand the question I think the answer is (B)

Explanation:

Because the distribution into shells of oxygen is 2,6 and in sulfur is 2,8,6 and oxygen has a 8th number of electrons and sulfur has the 16th number of electrons

What is the contrast of these two atoms?
Katena32 [7]

Answer:

The atomic number of silicon is 14 while atomic mass of carbon is 14.

Explanation:

An atom consist of electron, protons and neutrons. Protons and neutrons are present with in nucleus while the electrons are present out side the nucleus.

All these three subatomic particles construct an atom. A neutral atom have equal number of proton and electron. In other words we can say that negative and positive charges are equal in magnitude and cancel the each other. For example if neutral atom has 6 protons than it must have 6 electrons. The sum of neutrons and protons is the mass number of an atom while the number of protons are number of electrons is the atomic number of an atom.

In given atoms ¹⁴₆C  and ²⁸₁₄Si the atomic mass of carbon is 14 while the atomic number of silicon is 14. It means silicon has 14 electrons or protons while carbon has 6 protons or electrons because its atomic number is 6. Carbon has 6 protons and 8 neutrons in its nucleus while silicon has 14 protons and 14 neutrons in its nucleus.

In C:

Number of neutrons + protons = 8 + 6 = 14 amu (mass number)

Number of electrons = 6

In Si:

Number of neutrons + protons = 14 + 14 = 28 amu (mass number)

Number of electrons = 14

How many degrees of unsaturation are lost or gained in the base-induced transformation from mito-ph to its photoactive ring-open
Fudgin [204]

Unsaturation (IHD) 2 hydrogen Needed

IHD = [(2n+2) -H]/2
(H: X=1, N=-1, O= zero)

Unsaturation:
Double bonds = 1
Rings = 1
Triple Bonds = 2

The degrees of unsaturation in a molecule are additive — a molecule with one double bond has one degree of unsaturation, a molecule with two double bonds has two degrees of unsaturation, and so forth.
