Our good friend and pseudo scientist, homer simpson, attempts to analyze 300 mg of an unknown compound containing only c and h b

y burning it in excess oxygen. 540 mg of h2o is produced. you may assume that all the hydrogen in the compound ended up as water.

C_{x}H_{y} + O_{2} --\ \textgreater \ x CO_{2} + \frac{y}{2} H{2}O

540mg H_{2}O* \frac{1 mmol H_{2}O}{18 mg H_{2}O} =30 mmol H_{2}O

\\ \\30 mmolH_{2}O -have - 60 mmol H
\\ \\ 60 mmol H* \frac{1mg H}{1 mmol H} =60 mg H
\\ \\300mg C_{x}H_{y} - 60 mg H= 240 mg C
\\ \\ 240 mgC* \frac{1mmol}{12mg} =20 mmol C

20 mmol C: 60 mmol H=1 mol C : 3 mol H

Classify the reaction between zinc and acetic acid and explain, in general terms,
Nitella [24]

Answer:

The reaction between zinc and acetic acid is a single-replacement reaction. During this type of reaction basically one element replaces one compound.

The balanced equation for the reaction between zinc and acetic acid is

Zn(OH)_2 +2CH_3 COOH ----> Zn(CH_3COO)_2+2H 2O

Or this might help too!

Balanced Chemical Equation

A balanced chemical equation is defined as the chemical equation which has an equal number of atoms on both sides of the reaction arrow. A balanced chemical equation is based on the law of conservation of mass.

Answer and Explanation:

Below is the reaction between acetic acid and Zinc:

Z n  +  2 H C 2 H 3 O 2  →  Z n ( C H 3 C O O ) 2  +  H 2

This reaction is an example of a reaction between an acid and a metal. When an acid reacts with a metal, salt, and Hydrogen gas forms. The Hydrogen gas formed here can be tested as it burns with a POP sound.

What type of bond connects the fatty acid?
scoray [572]

The  type of bond connects the fatty acid will be " an ester bond".

Fatty acids could be joined to each of the three carbons of the glycerol molecule in a fat molecule by an ester bond that passes through into the oxygen atom. Three molecules are emitted during the establishment of the ester bond. Fats were also known as triacylglycerols as well as triglycerides because they are made consisting of three fatty acids and glycerol.

The three major nutrients in a diet may be carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. According to how many hydrogen bonds they contain, fats are classified as either saturated as well as unsaturated.

The  type of bond connects the fatty acid will be " an ester bond".

Hence, the correct answer will be option (c)
