Suppose that a constant force is applied to an object. newton's second law of motion states that the acceleration of the object

varies inversely with its mass. a certain force acting upon an object with mass 9 kg produces an acceleration of 5 /ms2 . if the same force acts upon another object whose mass is 15 kg , what would this object's acceleration be?

First object:
mass = 9 kg
acceleration = 5 m/s²
Force, F₁ = (9 kg)*(5 m/s²) = 45 N

Second object:
mass  = 15 kg
Force = 45 N (same force)
Let a =  the acceleration.

Then
(15 kg)*(a m/s²) = (45 N)
a = 45/15 = 3 m/s²

Answer: 3 m/s²

How long does it take for a dropped rock to fall from a height of 8 meters
seropon [69]

Answer:

1.28 s

Explanation:

Given:

Δy = 8 m

v₀ = 0 m/s

a = 9.8 m/s²

Find: t

Δy = v₀ t + ½ at²

(8 m) = (0 m/s) t + ½ (9.8 m/s²) t²

t = 1.28 s
