As you finish listening to your favorite compact disc (CD), the CD in the player slows down to a stop. Assume that the CD spins

down with a constant angular acceleration. A) If the CD rotates clockwise (let's take clockwise rotation as positive) at 500rpm (revolutions per minute) while the last song is playing, and then spins down to zero angular speed in 2.60s with constant angular acceleration, what is alpha_vec, the angular acceleration of the CD, as it spins to a stop? B)How many revolutions does the CD make as it spins to a stop?

Answer:

A. w=8.3rev/s

a_v=3.21rev/s^2

B. rev=10.79rev

Explanation:

A.

500rpm

500rpm*\frac{1minute}{60seg}=8.33\frac{rev}{s}

the time is about 2.60s knowing the acceleration is:

a_v=\frac{w}{t}

so:

w=8.3rev/s

a_v=\frac{8.33 rev/s}{2.60s}=3.21rev/s^2

B.

The CD stop so the final velocity is vf=0 so:

Total revolutions:

8.3rev/s*2.60s=21.58rev

21.58rev/2=10.79 rev

A filled water tower sits on the top of the highest hill near a city. The cylindrical tower has a height of 55.0 m
Reika [66]

Answer:

539 kPa

Explanation:

Pressure equals density times acceleration of gravity times depth.

P = ρgh

Water has a density of 1000 kg/m³, and acceleration of gravity is 9.8 m/s².

P = (1000 kg/m³) (9.8 m/s²) (55.0 m)

P = 539,000 Pa

P = 539 kPa

Calculate the propellant mass required to launch a 2000 kg spacecraft from a 180 km circular orbit on a Hohmann transfer traject
Finger [1]

Answer:

t = 12,105.96 sec

Explanation:

Given data:

weight of spacecraft is 2000 kg

circular orbit distance to saturn = 180 km

specific impulse = 300 sec

saturn orbit around the sun R_2 = 1.43 *10^9 km

earth orbit around the sun R_1= 149.6 * 10^ 6 km

time required for the mission is given as t

t = \frac{2\pi}{\sqrt{\mu_sun}} [\frac{1}{2}(R_1 + R_2)]^{3/2}

where

\mu_{sun} is gravitational parameter of sun =  1.32712 x 10^20 m^3 s^2.t = \frac{2\pi}{\sqrt{ 1.32712 x 10^{20}}} [\frac{1}{2}(149.6 * 10^ 6 +1.43 *10^9 )]^{3/2}

t = 12,105.96 sec

Is a spectral line with wavelength 656 nm seen in the absorption spectrum of hydrogen atoms? why or why not?
bekas [8.4K]

<u>No</u>, Photons are absorbed in a quantum jump from a lower energy level to a higher energy level.

When an electron moves closer to the nucleus and emits a photon, to move an electron further from the nucleus requires the absorption of a photon.

A spectral line is a dark or bright line in an otherwise uniform and continuous spectrum, resulting from absorption of light in a narrow frequency range, compared with the nearby frequencies. Spectral lines are often used to identify atoms and molecules.
