When one atom of sodium (Na) combines with one atom of fluorine (F), they form the compound sodium fluoride (NaF). Which of the

following best describes the arrangement of valence electrons in a bond between Na and F?
The valence electrons are shared equally between Na and F.
The valence electrons spend more time around the atom of Na.
The valence electrons spend more time around the atom of F.
The valence electrons are given up by the Na and gained by the F.

Na is a cation (positive) and F is a anion (negative) this is an ionic bond. In a ionic bond the cation loses its valence electrons to give them to the anion. In this case Na will give its valence electron to F so F can complete its octet:)

1.20×10−8s to nanoseconds
AveGali [126]

Answer:

There are 12 nanoseconds in 1.2\times 10^{-8}\ s.

Explanation:

We need to convert 1.2\times 10^{-8}\ s to nanoseconds.

We know that,

1\ s=10^9\ ns

Now using unitary method to solve it such that,

1.2\times 10^{-8}\ s=1.2\times 10^{-8}\ \times 10^9\\\\=1.2\times 10\\\\=12\ ns

So, there are 12 nanoseconds in 1.2\times 10^{-8}\ s.

A solution contains 3.95 g of carbon disulfide (CS2, molar mass = 76.13 g/mol) and 2.43 g of acetone ((CH3)2CO, molar mass = 58.
Feliz [49]

Answer:

The solution is not ideal and shows a positive deviation from Raoult’s law since Psolution (experimental) > Psolution (actual).

Explanation:

Number of moles of CS2 = 3.95g/76.13gmol-1 = 0.0519 moles

Number of moles of acetone = 2.43g/58.08gmol-1 = 0.0418 moles

Total number of moles = 0.0937 moles

Mole fraction of CS2 = 0.0519/0.0937 = 0.5538

Mole fraction of acetone = 0.0418/0.0937 = 0.4461

From Raoult’s law;

PCS2 = 0.5538 × 515 torr = 285.207 torr

Pacetone = 0.4461 × 332 torr = 148.1052 torr

Total pressure = 285.207 torr + 148.1052 torr = 433.3 torr

Which molecule is nonpolar and has a symmetrical shape hcl?
Alchen [17]
HCl is considered as polar molecule and that is incorrect answer, The choices provided are A) HCl , B) CH₄ , C) H₂O, D) NH₃

And the correct answer is : B) CH₄

In case of H₂O and NH₃ the high difference in electronegativity between nitrogen or oxygen and hydrogen make the bonds acquire partial charges and become polar while in case of CH₄ the difference in electronegativity between carbon and hydrogen is only 0.4 so it considered as non-polar bond
