A: Velocity is zero.

The pendulum starts from rest at A, hence the velocity of pendulum at A is zero.

So velocity is zero at A

As the pendulum swings from A to E, it first gains speed from A to C and the speed decreases from C to E coming to a momentary stop at E.

Similarly, as the pendulum swings from A to E, the acceleration first decreases A to C (becoming zero at C) and the acceleration increases from C to E coming to a maximum at E.

So

D: Velocity is decreasing. Acceleration is increasing.

A truck drives with a constant linear speed v_iv i v, start subscript, i, end subscript down a road with two curves. The first
Alex

Answer:

(C) Decreases by factor of 3

Explanation:

Centripetal acceleration is given by

a = \dfrac{v^2}{r}

where <em>v</em> is the linear velocity and <em>r</em> is the radius of the curve.

Let the centripetal acceleration on the curve of radius <em>R</em> be a_1.

Then

a_1 = \dfrac{v_i^2}{R}

Let the centripetal acceleration on the curve of radius 3<em>R</em> be a_2.

Then

a_2 = \dfrac{v_i^2}{3R} = \dfrac{1}{3}\dfrac{v_i^2}{R} = \dfrac{1}{3}a_1

Here, we see that the acceleration decreases by a factor of 3.

A parachutist's fall to Earth is determined by two opposing forces. A gravitational force of 605 N acts on the parachutist. Afte
Doss [256]

Answer:15.8 m/s

Explanation:

Given

Gravitational Force F_g=605 N

Air resistance F_d=689 N

mass of Parachutist =\frac{605}{9.8}=61.73 kg

Velocity after 3 s

v=u+at

v=0+9.8\times 3

v=29.4 m/s

Now Parachutist opens the parachute

Net for on Parachutist

605-689=-84

84 N drag force

therefore deceleration \frac{84}{61.73}=1.36 m/s^2

velocity after 10 s is

v_1=v+at

v_1=29.4-1.36\times 10

v_1=15.8 m/s
