1 ) The first terrarium was developed by botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward in 1842. He was interested in studying insect behaviour. Once he accidentally left one of his bug jars open. A fern spore in the jar sprouted, grew and germinated into a new plant. This is how the first terrarium had been created.

2 ) <span />Because of the different conditions within, terrariums there are two, which can be classified as closed and open. Closed terrariums have a lid to enclose the plants entirely within the glass container. Open terrariums do not require a lid.

Sorry working on this right now as well, and I don't have the others yet :(

Nina was almost hit by a bus. However, she is okay and her parasympathetic system is responding accordingly. It is: Please choos
Ahat [919]

Answer:d) contracting her pupils and increasing secretion of stress hormones.

Explanation:

Peripheral nervous system consists of 3 major neuronal levels: vegetative (reticular formation and brain stem), limbic system and neocortical level. The RAS is the link between the brain and the spinal cord.

Brain stem consists of pons, medulla oblongata and mesencephalon. Brain stem is responsible for involuntary functions such as heart beat, respiration and vasomotor activity. Limbic system represents the emotional control center. It consists of thalamus, hypothalamus and pituitary gland and maintains homeostasis. Neocortical part processes sensory information and regulates emotional responses.

Autonomic nervous system (ANS) regulates visceral activities and organs (circulation, digestion, respiration and temperature). ANS has two divisions: sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system.Parasympathetic nervous system regulates homeostasis via the release of acetylcholine (Ach). Parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for energy conservation and relaxation.

There are three stages in the stress response: immediate effects of stress, intermediate effects of stress and prolonged effects of stress.

1. Excretion is the process of (1 point)
ycow [4]
Q1. The answer is removing metabolic wastes from the body.
Excretion is the process through which metabolic wastes are removed from the body. Skin, lungs, and greatly kidney, which are the part of the excretory system, are responsible for excretion of metabolic waste in vertebrates. Invertebrates have special systems (insects, for example, have Malpighian tubules) or use skin to excrete metabolic wastes while single-celled organisms use the whole surface of the cell.

Q2. The answer is some animals live in dry or salty environments.
Kidneys are important organs in maintaining water balance. Some animals that live in dry and salty environments must preserve water in order to maintain homeostasis. They drink and eat food with more salt in it. If they lose that precious water in such conditions, the amount of different salts in the organism will increase and it will affect a normal functioning of the organism.

Q3. The answer is simple diffusion across the skin.
Ammonia is very toxic substance and a lot of water is needed for its neutralisation and excretion. Therefore, animals that live in water excrete ammonia directly in the water. Many freshwater invertebrates eliminate ammonia through skin. In animals that do not live in the water, kidneys and liver help conversion of ammonia into urea which is then excreted.,

Q4. They both actively pump salt across their gills.
Both saltwater and freshwater fishes use gills to eliminate nitrogenous wastes while kidneys have a little role in the elimination of this kind of the waste. Salt that is lost is replaced by active transport of salt ions into the body by the gills.

Q5. The answer is They both convert nitrogenous wastes to uric acid.
A garden spider and a sparrow are terrestrial organisms. They do not live in the water and do not excrete metabolic wastes in the water. It is known that ammonia is toxic nitrogenous substance and a lot of water is needed for its excretion. For water organisms this is not a problem, they are surrounded by water, but terrestrial organisms, such as the garden spider and the sparrow, have no such amount of water in the environment, so their kidneys and liver must convert ammonia into urine which can then easily be excreted.

What do all forms of transport have in common?
allsm [11]
Active transport requires energy from the cell. It occurs when substances move from areas of lower to higher concentration or when very large molecules are transported. Types of active transport include ion pumps, such as the sodium-potassium pump, and vesicle transport, which includes endocytosis and exocytosis.
