Soon after Earth was formed, heat released by the decay of radioactive elements raised the average internal temperature from 300

to 3000 K, at about which value it remains today. Assuming an average coefficient of volume expansion of 3.2 × 10–5 K–1, by how much has the radius of Earth increased since the planet was formed?

Answer:

97.03%

Explanation:

The equation for volumetric expansion due to thermal expansion is as follows

V/Vo=(1+γΔT)

V=final volume

Vo=initial volume

γ=coefficient of volume expansion=3.2 × 10–5 K–1

ΔT=

temperature difference

assuming that the earth is a sphere the volume is given by

V=(4/3)pi R^3

if we find the relationship between the initial and final volume we have the following

\frac{V}{Vo}  =\frac{ \frac{4}{3} \pi r^{3} }{ \frac{4}{3} \pi ro^{3}}=\frac{r^{3} }{ro^{3}}

taking into account the previous equation

r/ro=(1+γΔT)^(1/3)

r/r0=(1-3.2x10-5(3000-300))^(1/3)=

r/ro=0.9703=97.03%

Which of the following quantities provide enough information to calculate the tension in a string of mass per unit length μ that
Bad White [126]

Answer:

A. the wave speed v and Wavelength

Explanation:

Given that

Mass density per unit length=μ

Frequency = f

The velocity V given as

\mu=\dfrac{T}{V^2}\ kg/m

V=\sqrt{\dfrac{T}{\mu}}

T=Tension

V=Velocity

V= f λ

λ=Wavelength

Therefore to find the tension ,only wavelength and speed is required.

The answer is A.

How much force acts on one surface of a rectangular bedroom wall that is 2.20 m by 3.20 m when atmosspheric pressure is?
irakobra [83]
<span>We know that pressure is the force applied into a surface, in our case the wall of the room, so then first we will calculate the surface of this wall: S = 2.2 * 3.2 = 7.04 m2 Then we also know the atmospheric pressure in normal conditions is 1 atm. That is the same 1 atm = 101325 Pascals or 101325 N/m2 Now we need to use the formula : P = F/S where P is pressure, F is force and S is surface to calculate the force: F = P * S = 101325 * 7.04 = 713,328 Newtons Conclusion: the force acts on the wall due the air inside the room is 713,328 N</span>

A private aviation helicopter's main rotor blades rotate at approximately
Arisa [49]

Answer: 7.5 rev/s

Explanation:

We are given the angular velocity \omega a helicopter's main rotor blades:

\omega=450 rpm=450 \frac{rev}{min}

However, we are asked to express this \omega in the International Systrm (SI) units. In this sense, the SI unit for time is second (s):

\omega=450 \frac{rev}{min} \frac{1 min}{60 s}

\omega=7.5 \frac{rev}{s}
