According to Newton’s second law of motion, the acceleration of an object is inversely proportional to which quantity?

Physics

Answer:

Explanation:

Newton's second law of motion states that the rate of change of momentum is proportional to the applied force and it takes place in the direction of the force

I.e

F ∝ rate of change of momentum

Momentum is given as p =mv

F ∝ (mv-mu) / t

Let k be constant of proportion

F =k (mv-mu)/t

F= km(v-u)/t

We know that,

a = ∆V/t = (v-u)/t

Then,

F = kma

The unit of force is chosen so that k=1.

Then, F=ma

So, rearranging this will give as

a = F/m

If we assume that F is constant

Then, a ∝ 1/m

So, acceleration is inversely proportional to mass

The right option is b.

Which is the result of using a machine?
Eddi Din [679]
Correct Answers is A.

The machines gives us some mechanical advantage. This means the mechanical average makes the work output greater than the work input
Simple most example is a lever. The force applied is smaller and the output work is larger as compared to input.

Option B cannot be true, as there must be a force to get some work done.
Option C and D are inverse of what a machine is designed for. A small force can be exerted through a large distance to have a large force exerted through a small distance. Common Example of this principle is a screw opener.

When you look at yourself in a convex mirror, you appear to be ¼ your actual size. If you are standing 1.0 m in front of the mir
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer:

The focal length is   f  =  -0.2 \  m

The radius of curvature is R = -0.4 \  m

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

       The magnification of the mirror is  m =  \frac{1}{2}

       The distance of the person from the mirror(the object distance ) is  u = - 1.0 \ m

        The negative sign shows that it is been placed in front of the mirror

Generally the magnification of the mirror is mathematically represented as

       m  =  \frac{v}{u}

=>   \frac{1}{4}  = \frac{v}{-u}

=>   v  =  \frac{- 1}{4}

Generally from the lens equation we have that

        \frac{1}{f}  = \frac{1}{u}  + \frac{1}{v}

=>     \frac{1}{f}  = \frac{1}{-1 }  + \frac{1}{-\frac{1}{4} }

=>     f  =  -0.2 \  m

Generally the radius of curvature is  mathematically represented as

         R = 2 *  f

=>      R = 2 *   - 0.2

=>      R = -0.4 \  m
