The forces acting on a child sitting in a seat are described by the free-body diagram shown. What is the net force acting on the
r-ruslan [8.4K]

The net force is 0 N.

To find the total net force, all you need to do is add the forces.

So 100 + -100 = 0

Most of these questions are trick questions, but if you know Newton's laws of forces, then you should know that all forces should cancel out with each other.

Hope this helps!!!

Calculate the magnitude of the focal length and power of a spherical mirror that has a radius of 5.00 cm.
yarga [219]

Answer:

2.5 cm

40 D

Explanation:

When the radius of curvature of a lens is divided by 2 we get the focal length of the lens.

Focal length is given by

f=\dfrac{R}{2}\\\Rightarrow f=\dfrac{5}{2}\\\Rightarrow f=2.5\ cm

The focal length of the lens is 2.5 cm

When we divide 1 by the focal length in the unit of meters we get the power of a lens

Power of a lens is given by

P=\dfrac{1}{f}\\\Rightarrow P=\dfrac{1}{0.025}\\\Rightarrow P=40\ D

The power of the lens is 40 D

The table shows the specific heat capacities of various substances. How much energy is required to raise the temperature of 5g o
satela [25.4K]

Answer:

Q = 50.25 [J]

Explanation:

To solve this problem we must use the following equation that relates the temperature change with the mass and with the specific heat.

Q = m*Cp*(DT)

where:

Q = energy in form of heat [J]

m = mass = 5 [g] = 0.005 [kg]

Cp = specific heat = 1005 [J/kg*°C]

DT = temperature change = 10 [°C]

Now replacing:

Q = 0.005*1005*10

Q = 50.25 [J]

the impact time for a particular collision is 3.0 × 10-3 seconds and the impulse in the collision is 0.30 newton seconds. what i
Zanzabum
There are several information's already given in the question. The answer can be easily deduced using those information's.

Time = 3.0 * 10-3 seconds
Impulse = 0.30 newton
Then
Force = Impulse/Time
          = 0.30/3.0 * 10-3
          = 1 * 10^3 newtons.
I hope the above procedure is clear for you to understand and it has actually come to your great help.

why Galileo's thought experiment about the ball rolling forever on a level surface could only be a thought experiment.
erma4kov [3.2K]
Because in reality there are frictional forces acting on the ball, against the direction of its motion. In fact, because of the friction between the ball and the surface, the ball loses little by little its energy, so its velocity decreases and eventually it stops.
In an ideal world with no friction, there would be no forces acting on the ball, so its energy must be conserved and this means that the ball would continue its motion forever.
