Both birds, such as owls and eagles, and reptiles, such as snakes and lizards, reproduce with a unique kind of egg called the amniotic egg. An amniotic egg is a shelled egg in which an embryo develops. Birds are feathered and reptiles are scaled. Birds are endotherms (warm-blooded) and reptiles are ectotherms (cold-blooded).

They both produce eggs inside of shells, which contain the developing offspring.

After mating, the females of both groups produce eggs which envelope, nourish, and protect the developing offspring until they are ready to hatch. This is an adaptation that allows these groups to live their entire lives on land without having to return to the water in order to reproduce the way amphibians do.

All birds and most reptiles are oviparous, meaning that they lay their eggs outside of their bodies, in which the offspring develop until they hatch.

Some snakes are ovoviviparous, which means that after the mother produces the eggs, she retains the eggs until they hatch and she gives birth to live young. This is not the same as female mammals in which there is a uterus, an embryo, an amniotic sac, and a placenta.

8. Bring the balloon in contact with the wall. What happens to the charges in the wall?
Ne4ueva [31]

When the charged balloon is brought near the wall, it repels some of the negatively charged electrons in that part of the wall. Therefore, that part of the wall is left repelled.

Explanation:

 • Balloons don't stick to walls. However, if you rub the balloon on an appropriate piece of material such as clothing or a wall, electrons are pulled from the other material to the balloon.
 • The balloon now as more electrons than normal and therefore has an overall negative charge. Two balloons like this will repel each other.
 • The other material now has an overall positive charge. Because opposite charges attract, the balloon will now appear to stick to the other material. If you didn't rub the balloon first, it's charge would be neutral and it wouldn't stick to the wall.

Explain why hydrogen exhibits properties similar to those of both lithium and fluorine?
PtichkaEL [24]

Hydrogen exhibit similar properties with lithium because both are in the same group 1 as they both have a valence electron of 1

 • Hydrogen also exhibit some similar properties with fluorine simply because they are both non metals

What is an element?

An element is a substance which cannot be split into simpler forms by an ordinary chemical process. This simply goes to say that elements are substances which cannot be decomposed into simpler substances by ordinary chemical reactions.

An atom is the smallest unit or part of an element which can take part in a chemical reaction.

On a general note, elements are classified as thus:

 • Metals, non-metal, and metalloid.

 • The extreme left side elements in the periodic table are metals, for example, aluminum, sodium, calcium, caesium, etc.

 • However, elements on the right side are generally referred to as non-metals, carbon, chlorine, oxygen,

So therefore, hydrogen exhibit similar properties with lithium because both are in the same group 1 as they both have a valence electron of 1

 • Hydrogen also exhibit some similar properties with fluorine simply because they are both non metals

Zinc metal is produced by heating solid zinc sulfide with solid wine witte resulting in liquid zinc and sulfur dioxide gas Write
elena-s [515]

Answer:

The balance chemical equation can be given as:

ZnS(s)+ZnSO_4(aq)\overset{heat}\rightarrow 2Zn(s)+2SO_2(g)

Explanation:

When zinc sulfide is allowed to react with zinc sulfate it gives zinc metal and sulfur dioxide gas as a product. The balance chemical equation can be given as:

ZnS(s)+ZnSO_4(aq)\overset{heat}\rightarrow 2Zn(s)+2SO_2(g)

According to reaction we can see when 1 mol of zinc sulfide reacts with 1 mol of zinc sulfate it forms 2 moles of zinc metal and 2 moles of sulfur dioxide gas.
