A spherical hot air balloon is initially filled with air having 120 kPa pressure and 24 °C temperature. Initial diameter of the

hot air balloon was measured to be equal to 9.905 m. Before operating balloon the operator filled the balloon with air having 120 kPa pressure and 24 °C temperature via an inlet having 1.458 m diameter. It took operator 17.108 minutes to fill balloon to its operation diameter of 16.502 m. Calculate the velocity of air supply from the pump to the balloon through the inlet. Give your answer in m/s having 3 decimal points.

Answer:

v = 1.076 m /s

Explanation:

Initial volume of balloon = 4/3 x  3.14 x (9.905/2)³

=508.56 m³

Final volume of balloon = 4/3 x 3.14 x (16.502/2)³

= 2351.73 m³

Increase in volume = 1843.17 m³

Cross sectional area of inlet  A  = 3.14 x( 1.458/2)²

A = 1.6687 m²

Volume rate of flow of air = cross sectional area x velocity of inflow

= 1 .6687 V [ V is velocity of inflow ]

Total time taken = Increase in volume / rate of flow of air

17.108 X 60 = 1843.17 / 1.6687 V

V = \frac{1843.17}{1.6687\times17.108\times60}

v = 1.076 m /s

Before cutting coarse screw threads, the operator should lubricate: A. The leadscrew and gearbox B. The ways and cross slide C.
Maksim231197 [3]

Answer:

(d) all of the above

Explanation:

before cutting the screw threads the operator should lubricate all of the machine parts given in the option that is lead screw and gearbox , the ways and the cross slide and the carriage and half-nuts. we should use lubrication because it reduces the overall system friction and if friction is reduced then heat generated due to friction is also decreases which is beneficial

so option (D) will be correct because we need lubricate in all the given parts

The primary heat transfer mechanism that quickly warms my hand if I hold it directly above a campfire is: a)-Radiation b)-Induct
Tanzania [10]

Answer:

The correct answer is option 'c':Convection.

Explanation:

When we ignite a campfire the heat produced by combustion heats the air above the fire. As we know that if a gases gains heat it expands thus it's density decreases and hence it rises, if we hold our hands directly above the fire this rising hot air comes in contact with our hands thus warming them.

The situation is different if we are at some distance from the campfire laterally. Since the rising air cannot move laterally the only means the heat of the fire reaches our body is radiation.

But in the given situation the correct answer is convection.

Name the force acting on the handles of a plastic shopping bag that is full of groceries.
Dimas [21]

The answer is

The force acting on the handles of a plastic shopping bag that is full of groceries are gravitational force, muscular force.

Gravitational force works downwards, and muscular force is applied by the hands lifting bucket upwards. Two forces are in the opposite direction and hence balancing each other. As a result net force is zero.
