A solid sphere of brass (bulk modulus of 14.0 ✕ 1010 N/m2) with a diameter of 2.20 m is thrown into the ocean. By how much does

the diameter of the sphere decrease as it sinks to a depth of 2.40 km? (Take the density of ocean water to be 1,030 kg/m3.)

Answer:

Diameter decreases by the diameter of 0.0312 m.

Explanation:

Given that,

Bulk modulus =  14.0 × 10¹⁰ N/m²

Diameter d = 2.20 m

Depth = 2.40 km

Pressure = ρ g h = 1030 × 9.81 × 2.4 × 1000

               = 24.25 × 10⁶  N/m²

Volume = \dfrac{4}{3} \pi r^3

         \dfrac{\Delta V}{V}=\dfrac{(\Delta r)^3}{r^3}

Bulk modulus is equal to

B = -\dfrac{\Delta P}{\dfrac{\Delta V}{V} }

now

B = -\dfrac{24.25 \times 10^6}{\dfrac{(\Delta r)^3}{r^3} }

B = -\dfrac{24.25 \times 10^6}{\dfrac{(\Delta r)^3}{1.1^3} }

(\Delta r)^3 = \dfrac{24.25 \times 10^6 \times 1.1^3}{14.0 \times 10^{10}}

Δ r = -0.0156 m

change in diameter

Δ d = -2 × 0.0156

Δ d = -0.0312 m

Diameter decreases by the diameter of 0.0312 m.

What is the volume of an object that has a density of 65g/cm3 and a mass of 130g.
lora16 [44]

Density <em>ρ</em> is mass <em>m</em> per unit volume <em>v</em>, or

<em>ρ</em> = <em>m</em> / <em>v</em>

Solving for <em>v</em> gives

<em>v</em> = <em>m</em> / <em>ρ</em>

So the given object has a volume of

<em>v</em> = (130 g) / (65 g/cm³) = 2 cm³

Explanation:

Atomic structure contains electrons, protons and neutrons.

Electron is very light compared to proton and neutrons.

Given that the mass of an electron is

A) equal to the mass of a proton

B) less than the mass of a neutron

220V is applied to two different conductors made of the same material. One conductor is twice as long and twice as thick as the
ollegr [7]

Answer:

Explanation:

For calculating resistance of a conductor , the formula is

R = ρ l / A , ρ is specific resistance , l is length and A is cross sectional area of wire.

For first wire length is l₁ , area is A₁ resistance is R₁, for second resistance is R₂ , length is l₂ and area is A₂

Given , l₁ = 2l₂ , A₁ = 4A₂ , area is proportional to square of thickness.

R₁ / R₂ = I₁A₂ / I₂A₁

= 2l₂ x A₁ / 4 I₂A₁

= 1 / 2

2R₁ = R₂

Power = V² / R

Ratio of power = (V² / R₁) x (R₂ / V²)

= R₂ / R₁

= 2 .

A particle travels clockwise on a circular path of diameter R, monitored by a sensor on the circle at point P; the other endpo
kotykmax [81]

We make a graphic of this problem to define the angle.

The angle we can calculate through triangle relation, that is,

sin\theta = \frac{c}{QP}\\sin\theta = \frac{c}{R}\\\theta=sin^{-1}\frac{c}{R}

With this function we should only calculate the derivate in function of c

\frac{d\theta}{dc} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1-\frac{c^2}{R^2}}}(\frac{c}{R})'\\\frac{d\theta}{dc} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{R^2-c^2}}

That is the rate of change of \theta.

b) At this point we need only make a substitution of 0 for c in the equation previously found.

\frac{d\theta}{dc}\big|_{c=0} = \frac{1}{\sqrt{R^2-0}}\\\frac{d\theta}{dc}\big|_{c=0} = \frac{1}{R}

Hence we have finally the rate of change when c=0.
