Convection is the transfer of heat through a fluid

Conduction is the heat or electric current from one substance to another

Radiation is energy that radiated or transmitted

Ex: Convection- A pot of water is being boiled- the heat is being transferred to to the water

Ex2: Conduction- I have a plate filled with hot food- the heat from the food is being transferred to the plate, making the plate hot as well.

Ex3: Radiation- There is a dog by the fire place, the dog is being warmed- the heat from the fire is being transferred over to the dog

Hope this will help you with your homework :)

A 0.12-kg metal rod carrying a current of current 4.1 A glides on two horizontal rails separation 6.3 m apart. If the coefficien
Neporo4naja [7]

Answer:

The magnetic field is B  =  8.20 *10^{-3} \  T

Explanation:

From the question we are told that

   The  mass of the metal rod is  m = 0.12 \ kg

    The current on the rod is  I  = 4.1 \ A

    The distance of separation(equivalent to length of the rod ) is L   = 6.3 \ m

     The coefficient of kinetic friction is \mu_k = 0.18

      The kinetic frictional force is  F_k  = 0.212 \ N

     The constant speed is v  = 5.1 \ m/s

Generally the magnetic force on the rod is mathematically represented as

      F  =  B * I  *   L

For  the rod to move with a constant velocity the magnetic force must be equal to the kinetic frictional force so

        F_ k  =  B*  I  *  L

=>      B  =  \frac{F_k}{L  *  I  }

=>       B  =  \frac{0.212}{ 6.3   *  4.1   }

=>       B  =  8.20 *10^{-3} \  T

Dash is standing on his frictionless skateboard with three balls, each with a mass of 155 g, in his hands. The combined mass of
Tomtit [17]

Answer:

1.0326 m/s

Explanation:

mass of each ball, m = 155 g = 0.155 kg

mass of Dash and his skateboard, M = 65 kg

Speed of skateboard moving backward, v = 1.04 m/s

Let the speed of the balls in forward direction is u.

By using the conservation of momentum

Momentum in backward direction = Momentum in forward direction

(M + 3m) x u = M x v

(65 + 3 x 0.155) x u = 65 x 1.04

65.465 u = 67.6

u = 1.0326 m/s

Thus, the speed of balls in forward direction is 1.0326 m/s.
