Answer to problem 11 is the set {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10}

Answer to problem 13 is the set {2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10}

Answer to problem 17 is the empty set { } (see explanation below)

-----------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------------

Explanation to problem 11

Set A = {1, 3, 4}
Set C = {2, 5, 7, 10}

When we union these two sets together, we simply combine them writing all of the elements in one big set. This is why the answer is {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10}

-----------------------------------------------

Explanation to problem 13

B = {x|x is an even whole number less than 9}
B = {2, 4, 6, 8}
C = {2, 5, 7, 10}

Union B and C together and we get {2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10}

Toss out any duplicates

-----------------------------------------------

Explanation to problem 17

The previous problems had us doing set unions. This time we're doing set intersections. We have these two sets
A = {1, 3, 4}
C = {2, 5, 7, 10}

The question is: what number is in BOTH set A and set C? The answer is "there is no such value"
1 is in A, but not in C
3 is in A, but not in C
4 is in A, but not in C
2 is in C, but not in A
5 is in C, but not in A
7 is in C, but not in A
10 is in C, but not in A
There are no overlapping values. No values are shared between the two sets

So the answer is simply "the empty set" which can be written as { }. This is a pair of curly brace with nothing inside them. Your book may use the special symbol \varnothing, which is another way of saying "empty set"

Ivory created a scaled copy of rectangle A.
9966 [12]

The scale factor that Ivory used to create their scaled copy is;

<u><em>Scale is 1 interval on graph represents 4 units of the rectangle. This is 1:4 ratio.</em></u>

  • From the given image, we can see that the y-axis of the rectangle has 3 intervals while the x-axis has 1 intervals

  • Now, from the image, we are told that the area of the scaled copy is 48 square units.

What this means is that the area of the triangle she is trying to represent with that graph is 48 square units.

  • Now, if one interval of the graph is x-units, then it means;

length; y-axis = 3x units

width; x-axis = x units

  • Area of a rectangle is given by;

Area = Length × width

Thus;

3x * x = 48

3x² = 48

x² = 48/3

x² = 16

x = √16

x = 4

<em>Thus, 1 interval on the graph represents 4 units of the rectangle.</em>

Mariulka [41]

Answer:

2 5/12

Step-by-step explanation:

8 5/6 + 2 3/4 = 8 10/12 + 2 9/12  =  10 19/12  =  10 + 1 7/12  =  11 7/12

13 12/12 - 11 7/12 = 2 5/12

<h2>Answer:</h2>

\boxed{(5(-\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6}),5(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6}))}

<h2>Step-by-step explanation:</h2>

The origin of the coordinate system is the center of the circle. So we have an angle that measures 5\pi/12=75^{\circ}. so the x-coordinate and y-coordinate can be found, by using trigonometry as follows:

x=20cos(5\pi/12)=5\sqrt{6}-5\sqrt{2} \\ \\ Arranging:\\ \\x=5(-\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6}) \\ \\y=20sin(5\pi/12)=5\sqrt(6)+5\sqrt{2} \\ \\ Arranging:\\ \\y=5(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6})

Finally, the exact value of the position of the rider after the carousel rotates 5\pi/12 radians is:

\boxed{(5(-\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6}),5(\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{6}))}
