A girl and her dog are running. The dog has a mass of 20kg. The girl has a mass of 60 kg. Suppose both the dog and the girl run

at a speed of 2 m/sec. Calculate both of their kinetic energies. Show your work.
Suppose the dog speeds up and is now running at a speed of 4 m/sec. Calculate the dog's kinetic energy. Show your work.

Answer:

1i) Girl's K.E = 120 J

1ii) Dog's K.E = 40 J

2) Dog's K.E = 160 J

Explanation:

1) K.E = \frac{1}{2} mv^{2}

i) where the Girl has mass 60 kg and speed 2 m/s

Girl's K.E = \frac{1}{2} X 60 X 2^{2}

K.E = 0.5 X 60 X 4 = 120 J

ii) where the Dog has mass 20 kg and speed 2 m/s

Dog's K.E = \frac{1}{2} X 20 X 2^{2}

K.E = 0.5 X 20 X 4 = 40 J

2) where the Dog has mass 20 kg and speed 4 m/s

Dog's K.E = \frac{1}{2} X 20 X 4^{2}

K.E = 0.5 X 20 X 16 = 160 J

Using K = \frac{1}{2}mv^2, we can say that the girl's kinetic energy is 120 and the dog's is 40. If the dog speeds up, it now has a kinetic energy of 160.

A 0.0780 kg lemming runs off a 5.36 m high cliff at 4.84 m/s. what is its potential energy (PE) when it is 2.00 m above the grou
Colt1911 [192]

The potential energy of the lemming is 1.53 J

Explanation:

The potential energy (PE) of an object is the energy possessed by the object due to its position in the Earth's gravitational field, and it is given by:

PE=mgh

where:

m is the mass of the object

g=9.8 m/s^2 is the acceleration of gravity

h is the height of the object relative to the ground

In this problem:

m = 0.0780 kg is the mass of the lemming

We want to find the potential energy when the height is

h = 2.00 m

Therefore, we find:

PE=(0.0780)(9.8)(2.00)=1.53 J

ANSWER AND I WILL BUY A CAR
Natali [406]
You are exerting 100N. Since there’s no NET force, then there must be exactly 100N pushing exactly back on your 100N to cancel it to exactly zero. Newton's first law states that whether a body is at rest or travelling in a straight line at a constant speed, it will remain at rest or continue to move in a straight line at a constant speed unless acted upon by a force.

The aluminum atom______electrons to form an ion.<br> The ion that is formed is______.
Alchen [17]

The aluminum atom_loses_____electrons to form an ion.

The ion that is formed is_Al³⁺_____.

aluminium has the electronic configuration as 1s² 2s² 2p⁶ 3s² 3p¹

from the electronic configuration , we see that aluminium can attain stability by losing 3 electrons from outer shell.

after losing 3 electrons , the ion formed is given as Al³⁺

hence the correct options to fill in the blanks are lose  and Al³⁺
