A tensile test is performed on a metal specimen, and it is found that a true plastic strain of 0.20 is produced when a true stre

ss of 575 MPa (83,500 psi) is applied; for the same metal, the value of K in Equation 7.19 is 860 MPa (125,000 psi). Calculate the true strain that results from the application of a true stress of 600 MPa (87,000 psi).

∈ₙ= 0.20      σₙ = 575 MPa

K = 860 MPa

the true strain that results from the application of a true stress of 600 MPa (87,000 psi) IS ∈ₙ  = 0.24

Explanation:

Given that ,∈ₙ= 0.20      σₙ = 575 MPa

K = 860 MPa

When  σₙ= 575 MPa, what is ∈ₙ

Use ,  σₙ= K ∈ˣₙ   , solve for X

575 MPa = 860 MPa(0.20)ˣ

<u>Take log of each side </u>

log(575) = log860 - X log(0.20)

X = 0.25

Plug in X :

600 MPa = 860 MPa(∈ₙ )

X=0.25

∈ₙ =(600/860)^{1/0.25}

∈ₙ  = 0.24

A jet of water 75m in diameter,issues with a velocity of 30m/s and impinge on a stationary plate which distort its forward motio
pashok25 [27]

Forces exerted by the jet on the plate is=3976N

<h3>How to calculate forces exerted by the jet on the plate?</h3>

A force is an effect that can change the motion of an object. A force can generate an object with mass to change its velocity, i.e., to accelerate. Force can also be explained intuitively as a push or a pull. A force has both volume and direction, making it a vector amount.

A jet of water 75m in diameter

velocity = 30m/s

The forces exerted by the jet on the plate is

F=1000×44178×10^-3×30²

=3976N

the jet on the plate work done by Is zero .

The speed of an aircraft is given to be 260 m/s in air. If the speed of sound at that location is 330 m/s, the flight of the air
navik [9.2K]

Answer:

Ma=\frac{260}{330} \\Ma=0.7878

So, Ma < 1  Flow is Subsonic

Explanation:

Mach Number:

Mach Number is the ratio of speed of the object to the speed of the sound. It is used to categorize the speed of the object on the basis of mach number as sonic, supersonic and hyper sonic. (It is a unit less quantity)

Mach < 1       Subsonic

Mach > 1       Supersonic

Ma= Speed of the object/Speed of the sound

Ma=\frac{260}{330} \\Ma=0.7878

So, Ma < 1 Flow is Subsonic

If the contact surface between the 20-kg block and the ground is smooth, determine the power of force F when t = 4 s. Initially,
grigory [225]

Answer:

The power of force F is 115.2 W

Explanation:

Use following formula

Power  = F x V

F_{H} = F cos0

F_{H} = (30) x 4/5

F_{H} = 24N

Now Calculate V using following formula

V = V_{0} + at

V_{0} = 0

a = F_{H} / m

a = 24N / 20 kg

a = 1.2m / S^{2}

no place value in the formula of V

V = 0 + (1.2)(4)

V = 4.8 m/s

So,

Power = F_{H} x V

Power = 24 x 4.8

Power = 115.2 W
