The second law of thermodynamics states that the can never decrease over time.
The total energy of a system remains constant and it does not change in ideal cases.
From the statements given in the question, the correct answer is the first statement.

1. the thermal energy is conserved

First law is Conservation of Energy
Second is that entropy of an isolated system will always increase with time.
Entropy is the change of disorder through time. The best statement which relates to the 2nd law is C. Thermal energy flows from areas of higher to lower temperature

1. James drives 400 km in 5 hours to his grandmothers. What are the units for speed going to be?
Airida [17]

Answer:

See the answer below

Explanation:

1. Speed is calculated as the ratio of distance and time. Hence, Jame's speed can be calculated as:

       400/5 km/hr = 80 km/hr

The unit for the speed would be km/hr. This can also be converted to m/s:

80 km = 80,000 m

1 hr = 3,600 s

80 km/hr = 80,000/3600 m/s = 22.22 m/s

2. Since James drove 400 km in 5 hours, the distance he drove is 400 km.

3. The time it took for James to get there is 5 hours.

A ball is attached to a vertical spring. The ball is initially supported at a height y so that the spring is neither stretched n
scoundrel [369]

Answer:

All the three quantities will have non zero joules.

Explanation:

At the initial position of rest the system will have only gravitational potential energy while the other 2 quantities will be zero.

when the system reaches a height (y-h) only kinetic energy will be zero while the other 2 quantities will be non zero

At the position of (y-h/2) all the 3 quantities will be non zero.

barxatty [35]

Answer:

The answer is "(1.265 \pm 0.010) \ s \ and \ 0.709 \%"

Explanation:

In point i:

T_{theo}= 2\pi \sqrt{\frac{l}{g}}

        =2\pi\sqrt{\frac{0.397}{9.8}}\\\\= 1.265 \ s

If  error in the theoretical time period :

\frac{\Delta T_{theo}}{T_theo} = \frac{1}{2}  \frac{\Delta l }{l}\\\\\Delta T_{theo} = 1.265 \times \frac{1}{2} \times \frac{0.006}{0.397}

           = 0.010 \ s

 T_{theo} = (1.265 \pm 0.010) \ s

In point ii:

\% \ difference = \frac{|T_{exp} -T_{theo}|}{\frac{T_{exp}+T_{theo}}{2}} \times 100

<h3>                     = \frac{1.274 -1.265}{\frac{1.274+1.265}{2}} \times 100\\\\=0.709 \%</h3>

Ghella [55]

Given parameters:

Mass of the body  = 200g

Force on the body  = 10N

Unknown parameters:

Acceleration produced by the force  = ?

To solve this problem we must first define force in terms of mass and acceleration. This is possible due to the Newton's first law of motion.

  Force  = mass x acceleration

Here the unknown is acceleration and we can easily solve for it.

But we must take the mass to kilogram in order for it to cancel out.

        1000g  = 1 kg

        200g  = x kg =   \frac{200}{1000}   = 0.2kg

Now input the parameters and solve;

         10  = 0.2 x acceleration

   Acceleration  = \frac{10}{0.2}   = 50m/s²

The acceleration produced by the body is 50m/s²
