The answer is 30 because you put 21/x= 70/100
you cross multiply 100 and 21 you get 2100 and you divide it by 70 you should get 30 cause you take out one 0 from both numbers and end up with 210 divided by 7 then you get 30

70 % of unknown number = 21
We multiply the percentage by a variable and make it = to the given value.
70% of n = 21
Change percent to decimal
70% = \frac{70}{100} = 0.7
0.7n = 21
divide either sides by 0.7 to isolate n

\frac{0.7n}{0.7} = \frac{21}{0.7}
0.7 and 0.7 cancels out
n = 30

0.7 × 30 = 21
70 % of 30 is 21
An example has been attached below

% of a number = multiply % by number
value is the % of a number = divide % by value

Help, I don’t understand this DeltaMath question
djyliett [7]
I can use the angle and the length of JH to find the length of IJ.

To do this, I look at the relationship IJ and JH have to the 52 degree angle. JH is opposite to angle I, and IJ is adjacent to angle I. Because the two side lengths are opposite and adjacent, I use the tangent function to solve this.

Tangent of an angle = the length of the opposite side / the length of the adjacent side. This is just another way to say tan(x)=opposite/adjacent

Now I can fill in what I know...
tan(52)=4.2/x
Now, I want to isolate x.
tan(52) = 4.2/x
x(tan(52))=4.2
x=4.2/tan(52)

Now I put 4.2/tan(52) into a calculator and get x = 3.3 ft

Hope this helps!

fourteen boys and 21 girls will be equally divided into groups. Find the greatest number of groups that can be created if no one
shtirl [24]
Well if you add 14 and 21 you get 35. with 35 you can have 7 groups of 5 but if they have to be equal with the number of boys and girls in each group it would still be 7. two boys in each group with three girls in each group.
