The indwelling bladder and catheter are suitable environment for pathogenic bacteria due to the Urine and they predispose the individual to the development of Urinary tract infections.The bacteria usually gain entry into the bladder when the catheter is being inserted, when tying to fix the catheter or drainage system, or after removal.

Some symptoms of Urinary tract infection include cloudy and smelly urine, fever, nausea, headache, increased spasms etc.
