<u>Answer</u>:

Volume percent of a solution that has 10.0 g of ethanol= 12.37%

Volume percent of a solution that has 90.0 g of water = 87.69%

<u>Explanation:</u>

Volume Percent:

The volume percent helps us  to indicate the concentration of the solution when the volume of the solute and volume of the solution is given by

Volume Percent=\frac{\text{Volume of the Solute}}{\text{Volume of Solution}}\times100%

With respect to density 1mL of ethanol

=> 0.7893g or 10g of methanol contains

=> \frac{1}{0.7893}\times10

=> 12.67mL

And for water = \frac{1}{0.9987} \times 90.0

=> 90.12mL

Now total volume = 90.12+ 12.67 = 102.79mL

%(v/v) for water = \frac{90.12}{102.79}\times 100

 = 87.69%

%(v/v) for ethanol = \frac{12.67}{102.79}\times 100

 = 12.37%

What rules should you follow when adding and subtracting? Check all that apply.
GaryK [48]

Answer:

The answer to this question would be:

2. The exponents need to be the same so the leading numbers can be added or subtracted.

3. The result has the same number of decimal places as the least precise number.

The exponent is the 10^x that used in scientific notation. .When adding 12.3* 10^5 with 34.56 * 10^4, you need to make the exponent same first. In this case, it would become 12.3* 10^5 + 3.456 * 10^5= 15.756* 10^5

The decimal place could be rounded up to the least precise number. I'm not sure with the significant figures but it seems to use the biggest one.

What is the cost to drive to Los Angeles from San Francisco a distance of 405 miles if the cost of gasoline is $2.90 a gallon an
choli [55]

Answer: $46.98

Explanation:

The distance to drive to Los Angeles from San Francisco is 405 miles. Since the car get 25 miles per gallon of gas, for 405 miles, the car will use:

= 405/25 = 16.2 gallons

Since the cost of gasoline is $2.90 a gallon and the car will use 16.2 gallons. The cost will be:

= $2.90 × 16.2 gallons

= $46.98
