53.14 grams of ZnCl_{2}  will be produced from 26.0 g of Zn and 42.0 g of HCl.

Explanation:

Balanced chemical reaction:

Zn + 2 HCl ⇒ ZnCl_{2} +  H_{2}

data given:

mass of Zn = 26 grams

mass of HCl = 42 grams

mass of ZnCl_{2} = ?

here in the reaction Zn is the limiting reagent so mass of

ZnCl_{2} formed will be determined by it.

atomic mass of zinc =65.38 grams/mole

number of moles = \frac{mass}{atomic mass of 1 mole}

putting the values in the above equation:

number of moles of zinc = \frac{26}{65.38}

number of moles of zinc = 0.39 moles

From the balanced reaction it is seen that

1 mole of Zn produced 1 mole of ZnCl_{2}

0.39 moles will produce x moles of ZnCl_{2}

0.39 moles of ZnCl_{2} (atomic mass of  Zn = 65.38 grams/mole)

mass = atomic mass x number of moles

         = 0.39 x 136.28

           = 53.14 grams

53.14 grams of ZnCl_{2} is formed

The balanced reaction between aqueous nitric acid and aqueous strontium hydroxide is _________
umka2103 [35]

Answer:

2HNO_3(aq)+Sr(OH)_2(aq)\rightarrow Sr(NO_3)_2(aq)+2H_2O(l)

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, since nitric acid is HNO₃ and strontium hydroxide is Sr(OH)₂ we can represent the balanced chemical reaction by equaling the atoms of strontium, nitrogen, oxygen and hydrogen at both reactants and products as shown below:

2HNO_3(aq)+Sr(OH)_2(aq)\rightarrow Sr(NO_3)_2(aq)+2H_2O(l)

Best regards.

Why are ionic compounds solids
enot [183]

Answer: The crystal structure of ionic compounds is strong and rigid. It takes a lot of energy to break all those ionic bonds. As a result, ionic compounds are solids with high melting and boiling points.
