53.14 grams of ZnCl_{2}  will be produced from 26.0 g of Zn and 42.0 g of HCl.

Explanation:

Balanced chemical reaction:

Zn + 2 HCl ⇒ ZnCl_{2} +  H_{2}

data given:

mass of Zn = 26 grams

mass of HCl = 42 grams

mass of ZnCl_{2} = ?

here in the reaction Zn is the limiting reagent so mass of

ZnCl_{2} formed will be determined by it.

atomic mass of zinc =65.38 grams/mole

number of moles = \frac{mass}{atomic mass of 1 mole}

putting the values in the above equation:

number of moles of zinc = \frac{26}{65.38}

number of moles of zinc = 0.39 moles

From the balanced reaction it is seen that

1 mole of Zn produced 1 mole of ZnCl_{2}

0.39 moles will produce x moles of ZnCl_{2}

0.39 moles of ZnCl_{2} (atomic mass of  Zn = 65.38 grams/mole)

mass = atomic mass x number of moles

         = 0.39 x 136.28

           = 53.14 grams

53.14 grams of ZnCl_{2} is formed

How many molecules are there in 4dm³ of nitrogen gas
daser333 [38]

There are 1.078 x 10²³ molecules

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Given

4 dm³ = 4 L Nitrogen gas

Required

Number of molecules

Solution

Assumptions on STP (1 atm, 273 K), 1 mol gas = 22.4 L, so for 4 L :

mol = 4 : 22.4

mol = 0.179

1 mol = 6.02 x 10²³ particles(molecules, atoms)

For 0.179 :

= 0.179 x 6.02 x 10²³

= 1.078 x 10²³

A fish tank measures 0.40 meter long by 0.20 meter wide by 0.30 meter high. What is the width of the tank in centimeters?
umka21 [38]
Well the width is 0.20 meters. Since there are a hundred centimeters in a meter, we just have to move the decimal point two times to the right to get a 20 centimeter width.

250 mL of a solution of calcium oxalate is the evaporated until only a residue of solid calcium
Lana71 [14]

Answer:

2.3 * 10^-5

Explanation:

Recall that the solubility of a solute is the amount of solute that dissolves in 1 dm^3 or 1000cm^3 of solution.

Hence;

Amount of calcium oxalate = 154 * 10^-3/128.097 g/mol = 1.2 * 10^-3 mols

From the question;

1.2 * 10^-3 mols dissolves in 250 mL

x moles dissolves in 1000mL

x = 1.2 * 10^-3 mols * 1000/250

x= 4.8 * 10^-3 moldm^-3

CaC2O4(s) ------->Ca^2+(aq) + C2O4^2-(aq)

Hence Ksp = [Ca^2+] [C2O4^2-]

Where;

[Ca^2+] = [C2O4^2-] = 4.8 * 10^-3 moldm^-3

Ksp = (4.8 * 10^-3)^2

Ksp = 2.3 * 10^-5
