Yes, the atomic radius increases as you move down a group of elements. this is true
going down leads to valence electrons that are further away from nucleus -> less electrostatic attraction -> less pull towards nuc. -> greater radius/volume taken

A 10.0-g sample of sodium chloride was placed in 10.0 g of water. If 3.85 g of Cl2 was obtained, what was the percent yield of C
suter [353]

Answer:

63.53% yield

Explanation:

The balanced equation for this reaction is 2NaCl + H2O -> 2NaOH +Cl2

First we must find the limiting reactant

From NaCl we can only produce 6.06 grams of Cl2 in theory

From H20 we can only produce 38.995 grams in theory

so we know NaCl is the limiting

% yield is (Actual/Theoretical) x100 so

(3.85/6.06)x100= 63.53% yield

A sample of hydrogen occupies a volume of 351 mL at a temperature of 20 degrees Celsius. What is the new volume if the temperatu
xeze [42]
Volume of Hydrogen V1 = 351mL
Temperature T1 = 20 = 20 + 273 = 293 K
Temperature T2 = 38 = 38 + 273 = 311 K
We have V1 x T2 = V2 x T1
So V2 = (V1 x T2) / T1 = (351 x 311) / 293 = 372.56
Volume at 38 C = 373 ml

Can Chlorine be harmful to any of the earth’s ecosystems? If so how?
postnew [5]

Answer:

Although chlorine itself usually does not cause environmental harm, it combines rapidly to form chemicals such as dioxins that pollute water, contaminate fish and transfer to humans and larger animals that eat the fish.
