Chemistry

This is because gold is melted using the outer most part of the candle flame which has complete combustion whereas metals are not burnt in this way and they react with oxygen to produce metal oxides and so the metal as well as silver loses it shine and gets a blackish appearance whereas gold remains shiny throughout because it does not have reaction with oxygen.

Because Gold is a very inert metal, and won't really react with oxygen in the air.

The only reason other metals tarnish, such as copper, silver, steel/iron, is

because they're freely reacting with air, to produce a metal oxide surface layer.

Identify the Brønsted-Lowry acid, the Brønsted-Lowry base, the conjugate acid, and the conjugate base in each reaction:
ExtremeBDS [4]

Answer:

C5H5N is the base and C5H5NH+ is the conjugate acid

H2O is the acid and OH− is the conjugate base

Explanation:

Hydrogen + is also called a proton

C5H5N is the base because it receives the proton (H+) and C5H5NH+ is its conjugate acid

H2O is the acid because it gives up the proton and OH− is the conjugate base because it is capable of receiving the proton

Answer:

HNO3 is the acid and NO3- is the conjugate base

H2O is the base and H3O+ is the conjugate acid

Explanation

HNO3 is the acid and NO3− is its conjugate base, capable of receiving a proton

H2O is the base because it receives the proton and H3O+ is a conjugate acid capable of giving up the proton.

The answer is head-to-tail joining of monomers. Monomer used in condensation have two functional groups that combine to form amide and ester linkages. When this reaction occurs, water molecules is removed and that is why it is called a condensation reaction.

what is the pressure inside a tank when it contains 87.3 moles of Helium if it holds 52.0 miles at 9.63 atm
Vladimir [108]
We are given
n = 87.3 moles He

no = 52.0 moles
Po = 9.63 atm

Using the relationship between Pressure and number of moles
Po/no = P/n
Substituting
9.63 atm / 52.0 mol = P / 87.3 mol
Solve for P
