Three blocks are placed in contact on a horizontal frictionless surface. A constant force of magnitude F is applied to the box o

f mass M. There is friction between the surfaces of blocks 2M and 3M (μs = 0.26, μk = 0.15) so the three blocks accelerated together to the right.
What is the acceleration of the blocks? (You may assume block 3M does not slide or fall off block 2M.)

What is the maximum force F that can be applied, before the 3M block slides off?

Answer:

Part a)

a = 0.67 m/s^2

Part b)

F_{max} = 107.1 N

Explanation:

Part a)

Applied force on the block system is given as

F = 28 N

total mass of the system is given as

m = M + 3M + 2M

m = 6M

now acceleration of the system is given as

a = \frac{F}{m}

a = \frac{28}{6M}

a = 0.67 m/s^2

Part b)

When 3M mass block just start sliding then the force of friction on it will reach to its maximum value

F = F_s

F = \mu_s (3M)(g)

F = 0.26(3\times 7)(9.81)

now the acceleration of the block is given as

a = \frac{F}{3M} = \mu_s g

a = 0.26(9.81)

a = 2.55 m/s^2

now we have

F_{max} = (M + 2M + 3M) a

F_{max} = 6(7)(2.55)

F_{max} = 107.1 N

In your question where as ask to calculate the acceleration of the block base on the figure that is shown in you diagram. Base on my calculation and through step by step procedure and with the guidance of the theories and by the use of formulas, I came up with an answer of <span>F>3<span>μt</span>Mg</span>

How many significant digits should the answer to the following problem have? (2.49303 g) * (2.59 g) / (7.492 g) =
Feliz [49]

The number of significant digits to the answer of the following problem is four.

<h3>What are the significant digits?</h3>

The number of digits rounded to the approximate integer values are called the significant digits.

The following problem is

(2.49303 g) * (2.59 g) / (7.492 g) =

On solving we get

= 0.86184566204

The answer is approximated to  0.86185

Thus, the significant digits must be four.

Monochromatic light from a distant source is incident on a slit 0.750 mm wide. On a screen 2.00 m away, the distance from the ce
jasenka [17]

Answer:

\lambda= 506.25 nm

Explanation:

Diffraction is observed when a wave is distorted by an obstacle whose dimensions are comparable to the wavelength. The simplest case corresponds to the Fraunhofer diffraction, in which the obstacle is a long, narrow slit, so we can ignore the effects of extremes.

This is a simple case, in which we can use the Fraunhofer single slit diffraction equation:

y=\frac{m \lambda D}{a}

Where:

y=Displacement\hspace{3}from\hspace{3} the\hspace{3} centerline \hspace{3}for \hspace{3}minimum\hspace{3} intensity =1.35mm\\\lambda=Light\hspace{3} wavelength \\D=Distance\hspace{3}between\hspace{3}the\hspace{3}screen\hspace{3}and\hspace{3}the\hspace{3}slit=2m\\a=width\hspace{3}of\hspace{3}the\hspace{3}slit=0.750mm\\m=Order\hspace{3}number=1

Solving for λ:

\lambda=\frac{y*a}{mD}

Replacing the data provided by the problem:

\lambda=\frac{(1.35\times 10^{-3})*(0.750\times 10^{-3})}{1*2} =5.0625\times 10^{-7}m =506.25nm
