Why are hydrogen, lithium, and sodium classified as reactive elements?

Chemistry

The alkali metals and hydrogen are reactive because they have only one electron to give in order to complete their valence shell. It is easier to give that one electron so when given the opportunity they will. This means they will react with anything polar or willing to take an electron.

Consider dissolving sugar in water and magnesium sulfate in water. is any new substance being produced? what happens after sodiu
Olenka [21]

Answer:

Here's what I get

Explanation:

1. Sugar

(a) Dissolving in water

The white solid dissolves in water to give a colourless solution. There is no evidence that a new substance is being produced.

(b) Addition of sodium hydroxide

Adding the colourless solution of sodium hydroxide to the colourless sugar solution gives a colourless solution. There is no evidence that a new substance is being produced.

2. Magnesium sulfate

(a) Dissolving in water

The colourless crystals dissolve in water to give a colourless solution. There is no evidence that a new substance is being produced.

(b) Addition of sodium hydroxide

Adding the colourless solution of sodium hydroxide to the colourless solution of magnesium sulfate gives a white precipitate (see image). This is evidence that a new substance is being produced.

What is the molality of a solution of 10 g NaOH in 500 g water?
Molar mass NaOH = 40 g
umka2103 [35]

Explanation:

Moles of NaOH = 10g / (40g/mol) = 0.25mol.

0.25mol / 500g = 0.50mol / 1000g = 0.50mol/dm³.

The molarity is 0.50mol/dm³.

What mass of nitrous oxide gas (N2O) is contained in 20.0 L balloon at a pressure of 110.0 kPa and a temperature of 25 C?
likoan [24]

Answer:

40.94 g

Explanation:

Given data:

Mass of NO₂ = ?

Volume = 20.0 L

Pressure = 110.0 Pka

Temperature = 25°C

Solution:

Pressure = 110.0 KPa (110/101 = 1.1 atm)

Temperature = 25°C (25+273 = 298.15 K)

The given problem will be solve by using general gas equation,

PV = nRT

P= Pressure

V = volume

n = number of moles

R = general gas constant = 0.0821 atm.L/ mol.K

T = temperature in kelvin

n = PV/RT

n = 1.1 atm × 20.0 L / 0.0821 atm.L/ mol.K ×298.15 K

n = 22 / 24.5 /mol

n= 0.89 mol

Mass of NO₂:

Mass = number of moles × molar mass

Mass = 0.89 mol × 46 g/mol

Mass = 40.94 g

Which compound plays an important role in leather processing and electroplating?
Margaret [11]

Answer;

 • Hydrochloric acid

Explanation;

 • Hydrochlorc acid plays a vital role in leather processing and electroplating.
 • Hydrochloric acid has a number of important applications in real life these includes; fertilizers, and dyes, textile, in electroplating, rubber and in the photographic industries.
 • Electroplating is the process that involves coating a metal using another metal for the purpose of improving their appearance or preventing rusting.
 • Hydrochloric acids is used in the processing of leather or the tanning of leather process, in which tanneries use the acid to stop the growth of bacteria and also maintain proper pH.
