A proton and an alpha particle are momentarily at rest at a distance r from each other. They then begin to move apart. Find the

speed of the proton by the time the distance between the proton and the alpha particle doubles. Both particles are positively charged. The charge and the mass of the proton are, respectively, e and m. The charge and the mass of the alpha particle are, respectively, 2e and 4m.

Answer:

v = 0.525 /√r

Explanation:

For this problem we must use Newton's second law where force is electric given by Coulomb's law.

             F = m a

             k q₁ q₂ / x² = m dv / dt

Where index 1 we will use it for the proton and index 2 for the alpha particle

             k / m q₁q₂ / x₂ = dv/dx   dx/dt = dv/dx   v

            (k / m q₁q₂) dx / x² = v dv

We integrate

           (k / m q₁q₂) (-1 / x) = v² / 2

We evaluate between the lower limit x = r and v = 0 to the upper limit x = 2r

           (k / mq₁q₂) (-1 / 2r + 1 / r) = ½ (v²-0)

           v² = 2k/m  q₁q₂ (1 / 2r)

           q₁ = e

           q₂ = 2e

           v² = k 2e² /m  1 /r

           v² = 2k e²/m  1 /r

Let's replace the values

          v² = 2 8.99 10⁹ (1.6 10⁻¹⁹)² /1.67 10⁻²⁷   1 / r

          v = √( 27.562 10⁻² 1 / r)

          v = 5.25 10⁻¹  1 / √r

          v = 0.525 /√r

Heat is transferred from the sun-warmed surface of earth to the cooler overlying troposphere via _______
vfiekz [6]

Heat is transferred from the sun-warmed surface of the earth to the cooler overlying troposphere via conduction.

Heat transfer from earth to atmosphere:

Conduction, convection, latent heating, and water phase transitions all help to carry heat from the Earth's surface, which has been warmed by the Sun, to the cooler troposphere above.

Latent heat flux is the worldwide transfer of latent heat energy via water and air currents. Here, we demonstrate how air circulation transports latent heat energy horizontally to cooler regions, where it condenses into rain or is deposited as snow, releasing the heat energy that was previously trapped there.

When air is heated from below by sunshine or by coming into contact with a warmer land or sea surface, convection occurs and the air below becomes less dense than the air above.

A man walks 6 km north, then turns and walks 6 km east what is the resultant and angle
gulaghasi [49]
That would depend on the man’s starting latitude. If 6.7 mi south of the north pole, for example, the resultant would be 6.7 mi due north of the starting point.

How do streams change as they flow from mountains down to plains? Plz help URGENT I need it today
lisov135 [29]
They start as one stream, then get curvier, then empy into a delta. A delta is a ton of streams of water. It is one, then empties out into a ton of streams.

A climber pulls herself 8 meters upwards with a force of 150 Newtons. If it takes her 16 seconds to cover the 8 meters, how much
mr Goodwill [35]

Answer:

P = 75 W

Explanation:

given,

Distance, L = 8 m

Force,F = 150 N

Time, t = 16 s

Work by the climber

Work done = Force x displacement

W = F. L

W = 150 x 8

W = 1200 J

We know,

Power =\dfrac{Work\ done}{time}

P =\dfrac{1200}{16}

P = 75 W

Hence, Power climber is using to climb is equal to 75 W.
