Gas
-Gas assumes the shape and volume of its container. Particles can move past one another.
-Gas is compressible with lots of free space between particles.
- Gas flows easily, particles can move past one another.
Liquid
- liquid assumes the shape of the part of the container which it occupies. Particles can move or slide past one another.
- liquids are not easily compressible.
- liquids have little free space between particles.
- liquids flow easily, particles can move or slide past one another.
Solid
- solids retain a fixed volume and shape. They are rigid and particles lock into place.
- solids are not easily compressible, there is little free space between particles.
- solids do not flow easily. Their rigid particles cannot move or slide past one another.
