You come across an open container that is filled with two liquids. Since the two liquids have different densities, there is a di

stinct separation between them. Water, which has a density of rhow=1.00×103 kg/m3 , fills the lower portion of the container to a depth of 0.218 m. The fluid that is floating on top of the water is 0.328 m deep. If the absolute pressure on the bottom of the container is 1.049×105 Pa , what is the density, rhol, of the unknown fluid? The acceleration due to gravity is g=9.81 m/s2 and atmospheric pressure is P0=1.013×105 Pa .

Answer:

455.33 kg/m³

Explanation:

The pressure at the bottom of the container is

P = P' + P'' +P₀

P' is pressure due to water

P'' is pressure due to unknown liquid

P₀ is the atmospheric pressure

P = 1.049 ×10⁵ Pa

P' = ρgh

⇒P' = (1000)(9.8)(0.218) =2136.4 Pa

P'' =P-P'-P₀

⇒P''=( 1.049 ×10⁵-2136.4-1.013 ×10⁵) Pa =1463.6 Pa

P'' = ρ'gh'

ρ' = (1463.6)/(9.8×0.328) = 455.33 kg/m³

A sound wave travels through water. What best describes the direction of the water particles?
balu736 [363]

Answer:

In water, the particles are much closer together, and they can quickly transmit vibration energy from one particle to the next.

A water wave is an example of a transverse wave. As water particles move up and down, the water wave itself appears to move to the right or left.

Which element does not have the same number of electrons in its outermost shell as the other elements in its group?(1 point)
Setler79 [48]

Helium (He) does not have the same number of valence electrons as other elements in its group.

The periodic table is divided into groups with the last number of the group coinciding with the number of electrons that an element in the group has in its outermost or valence shell.

Helium is in group 18 which means that it should have the same number of valence electrons as :

  • Neon
  • Argon
  • Krypton
  • Xenon and,
  • Radon

Yet Helium only has 2 valence electrons. We can therefore conclusively say that Helium does not have the same number of valence electrons as other elements in its group.

An airplane starts from rest and accelerates at 10.8 m/s2 . what is its speed at the end of a 400 m long runway?
Cloud [144]

The final speed of an airplane is v = 92.95 m/s

The rate of change of position of an object in any direction is known as speed i.e. in other word, Speed is measured as the ratio of distance to the time in which the distance was covered.

Solution-

Here given,

Acceleration a= 10.8 m/s2 .

Displacement (s)= 400m

Then to find final speed of airplane v=?

Therefore from equation of motion can be written as,

v²=u²+ 2as

where, u is initial speed, v is final speed ,a is acceleration and s is displacement of the airplane. Therefore by putting the value of a & s in above equation and (u =0) i.e. the initial speed of airplane is zero.

v²= 2×10.8 m/s²×400m

v²=8640m/s

v=92.95m/s

hence the final speed of airplane v =92.95m/s
