The primary form of evidence that has led astronomers to conclude that the expansion of the universe is accelerating is by the observation of white dwarf supernovae.

Answer: D

Explanation

The Universe is becoming larger in an accelerated rate which means the galaxies are stretching away from the observer with increasing acceleration.

The speed with which the galaxies in the universe are receding away from the observer is varying with time.

This process is termed as accelerating expansion of universe.

In 1998, 2 independent teams first observed this. The first evidence for accelerating expansion of universe was obtained by observing the red shift of white dwarf supernovae named Ia supernovae.

A wave of wavelength 0.3 m travels 900 m in 3.0 s. Calculate its frequency.
zzz [600]

Answer:

1000 Hz

Explanation:

The frequency would be 1000 Hz.

The frequency, wavelength, and speed of a wave are related by the equation:

v = fλ ..................(1)

where v = speed of the wave, f = frequency of the wave, and λ = wavelength of the wave.

Making f the subject of the formula:

f = v/λ.........................(2)

Also, speed (v) = distance/time.

From the question, distance = 900 m, time = 3.0 s

Hence, v = 900/3.0 = 300 m/s

Substitute v = 300 and λ = 0.3 into equation (2):

f = 300/0.3 = 1000 Hz

Which property of matter allows convection currents to form
USPshnik [31]
Convection currents are formed due to the density difference between layers of fluid. The heated layers rise up because their density is less than that of the colder layers. Hope this helps!

What are the similarities and differences between chemical and physical properties?
Semmy [17]

Answer:

Physical properties are different from chemical properties of a substance. The main difference between physical and chemical properties is that physical properties can be observed without changing the chemical composition of a substance whereas chemical properties can be observed by changing the chemical composition of a substance.
