A scientifc theory is as close as you can get to total fact as can possibly get. before a hypothises becomes a theory it needs to be tested and peer reviewed. example might be evolution theory or germ theory.
Laws are things that are facts and you can observe it all the time. example might be gravity.

A scientific law is a statement based on repeated experimental observations that describes some aspects of the universe. A scientific law always applies under the same conditions, and implies that there is a causal relationship involving its elements.A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world, based on a body of facts that have been repeatedly confirmed through observation and experiment. Such fact-supported theories are not "guesses" but reliable accounts of the real world.

What is the volume of a sample of liquid mercury that has a mass of 76.2g given that the density of mercury is 13.6g/mL
timurjin [86]
Units are all fine. No need of conversion.
Just Use the formula:

V = mass / density

V = 76.2 / 13.6 = 5.6 mL

If 5.1 l of antifreeze solution (specific gravity = 0.80) is added to 3.8 l of water to make a 8.9 l mixture, what is the specif
Maslowich
Density of the mixture = mass of the mixture / volume of the mixture

Mass of the mixture = mass of antifreeze solution + mass of water.

Mass of antifreeze solution = density of the antifreeze solution * volume

Mass of antifreeze solution = 0.8g/ml * 5.1 l * 1000 ml / l = 4,080 g

Mass of water = density of water * volume of water = 1.0 g/ml * 3.8 l * 1000 ml / l = 3,800 g

Mass of mixture = 4080 g + 3800 g= 7880 g

Volume of mixture = volume of antifreeze solution + volume of water

Volume of mixture = 5100 ml + 3800 ml = 8900 ml

Density of mixture = 7800 g / 8900 ml = 0.876 g/ml

Specific gravity of the mixture = density of the mixture / density of water = 0.876

A force of 30 N is applied to a screwdriver to pry the lid off of a can of paint. The screwdriver applies 75 N of force to the l
Ipatiy [6.2K]
The formula of mechanical advantage in this situation is:
MA = Input Force ÷ Output Force

The input force is the 30N applied to a screwdriver while the output force is the 75N force to the lid.

So,

MA = 30N/75N
MA = 0.40

Hence the mechanical advantage of the screwdriver is 0.40.
