3(6+b)=19

18+3b=19

3b=1

b=1/3

so then a+b= 1/3+6

1/3+6=

19/3 or 6 1/3

Hello!

In a really simple way, 3 times our answer is 19. We can just divide to find it.

19/3= 6 1/3

Anyway, it might be nice to solve the equation for b. If a=6, then b has to be 1/3, but let's check.

18+3b=19

3b=1

b=1/3

Therefore, a+b= 6 1/3

I hope this helps!

Elina [12.6K]

Answer:

Part a) The scale factor of the smaller pyramid to the larger pyramid in simplest form is \frac{7}{10}

Part b) The ratio of the volume of the smaller pyramid to the larger pyramid is \frac{343}{1,000}

Part c) The volume of the smaller pyramid is 4,116\ m^{3}

Step-by-step explanation:

Part a) The scale factor of the smaller pyramid to the larger pyramid in simplest form

we know that

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its corresponding sides is equal and this ratio is called the scale factor

so

Let

z----> the scale factor

x----> the height of the smaller pyramid

y----> the height of the larger pyramid

z=\frac{x}{y}

substitute the values

z=\frac{21}{30}

Simplify

z=\frac{7}{10} -----> scale factor in simplest form

Part b) Ratio of the volume of the smaller pyramid to the larger pyramid

we know that

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its volumes is equal to the scale factor elevated to the cube

so

Let

z----> the scale factor

x----> the volume of the smaller pyramid

y----> the volume of the larger pyramid

z^{3}=\frac{x}{y}

we have

z=\frac{7}{10}

substitute

\frac{7}{10}^{3}=\frac{x}{y}

Rewrite

\frac{x}{y}=\frac{343}{1,000} -----> ratio of the volume of the smaller pyramid to the larger pyramid

Part c) The volume of the smaller pyramid

we know that

If two figures are similar, then the ratio of its volumes is equal to the scale factor elevated to the cube

so

Let

z----> the scale factor

x----> the volume of the smaller pyramid

y----> the volume of the larger pyramid

z^{3}=\frac{x}{y}

we have

z=\frac{7}{10}

y=12,000\ m^{3}

substitute the values and solve for x

(\frac{7}{10})^{3}=\frac{x}{12,000}

x=\frac{343}{1,000}(12,000)=4,116\ m^{3}

What is m∠ MHJ?<br> 35<br> 50<br> 72.5<br> 92.5
NNADVOKAT [17]

Answer:

50

Step-by-step explanation:

MHJ and LHK are vertical angles, which means they are equal

2x-20 = x+15

Subtract x from each side

2x-20-x = x+15-x

x-20 = 15

Add 20 to each side

x-20+20 = 15+20

x = 35

We want to find MHJ

MHJ =2x-20

        =2(35) -20

       = 70 -20

      = 50

The varsity basketball team started selling T-shirts online in 1994. The number of T-shirts sold online, s, is modeled by the gr
-Dominant- [34]

(PART-A): s-intercept in this case represents the y-intercept of the graph, whereas the t-intercept in this case represents the x-intercept of the graph.

Always remember that y-intercept represents the value of y where the curve (or line) crosses the y-axis, and x-intercept represents the value of x where the curve (or line) crosses the x-axis.

In the graph attached with the question, at point (0,6) the curve crosses the y-axis. Therefore, the <em>y-intercept (s-intercept) in this case is 6</em>. It means that in year 2000 (t=0), 6 hundred shirts were sold.

However, there is no point on the graph where the curve crosses the x-axis, meaning there is <em>no x-intercept (t-intercept)</em>. It means that there is <em>not</em> a single year when the number of shirts sold is 0.

(PART B): As you can see in the graph (attached with the question) that the <em>f(t)</em> is increasing (exponentially) with the increase in <em>t. </em>Therefore, we can safely say that as t increases without bound, the f(t) increases (also). In this context, it means that the sale of shirts increases as the years go by. Hence, the correct blank is "increases."

(PART C): The average rate of change is actually the slope. To find the slope, we can use the following formula:

slope = \frac{y_2 - y_1}{x_2 - x_1} --- (X)

Given points: (5, 12.5) and (7, 22). Plug the values in equation (X),

slope = \frac{22-12.5}{7-5} = 4.75

Hence, the average rate of change for the function between t=5 and t=7 is 4.75 (answer).

(PART D): This part is bit tricky. Therefore, read the explanation carefully!

You can see in the graph that number of Shirts sold is in <em>hundreds. </em>It means that 1 unit (of y-axis in a graph) represents 100 shirts. Therefore, as in the question it is mentioned that there are 1000 T-shirts sold, it will become 10 units (since 10*100 = 1000). So, the function g(t) will become the following:

g(t) = f(t) + 10 --- (Y)

Why did I add f(t)? Because in the question, the word "<em>and</em>" is underlined. It means that g(t) represents not only 1000 T-shirts (10*100 = 1000) sold at the basketball games each year, but it also has the number of T-shirts sold ONLINE, which is f(t).

Now insert f(t) in (Y) and solve:

g(t) = f(t) + 10\\g(t) = (1.5)^t + 5+ 10\\g(t) = (1.5)^t + 15

Hence, g(t) is (1.5)^t + 15

Julie gives 7 pieces of candy to each of her friends. If Julie gives all of her candy away, which amount of candy could have bee
True [87]
To find the answer to this problem, you just need to figure out which total amount of candy is divisible by 7.

161/7=23
<span>162/7=23.1428571429
</span>145/7=<span>20.7142857143
128/7=</span><span>18.2857142857

Obviously, Julie cannot give a fraction of an amount of candy to someone.  So that rules out that she had 162, 145, or 128 pieces of candy.

The only amount of candies that Julie could have that is divisible by 7 is 161 candies, which means that 161 is your answer.</span>
