Let's find out the area of the two parts separately to see which part is smaller.

Area of rectangle is given by Length * Width

Area of Part 1

Width of Part 1 is 16'

Length of Part 1 is 16-12 = 4'

So area of Part 1 is 16*4 = 64' square

Area of Part 2

Width of Part 2 is 8'

Length of Part 2 is 8'

So area of Part 2 is 8*8 = 64' square

So area of both the parts is same . Hence Jeremy may choose any of the parts.

Hope it helps ..!!

They are the same. 8 times 8 is 64, and 16 times 4 is also 64.

svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

Her final answer should have been x = 1/2.

Step-by-step explanation:

Her 2 errors were that she didn't distribute the 2x to both 4 and -17 and that she made the 13 positive instead of negative when she added 4 and -17 together.

Correct solution:

8(x-3)+7=2x(4-17)

8x-24+7=8x-34x

-17=-34x

The negatives on both sides cancel each other out

x = 1/2

Svetllana [295]

Answer: If the time is 3 1/2 years (most reasonable assumption)

Her initial deposit was $160

Step-by-step explanation: The basic formula for simple interest is

i = prt i is interest, P is principal (deposit) r is the percentage (converted to a decimal) and t is time, the number of years.

For this question, you have to rearrange the equation to solve for p.

So divide both sides by rt and you have

p = i/rt

Substitute the values given

p = 36.40/(0.065)(3.5)
