All of a triangles angles add up to 180, this is known as the triangle sum conjecture.

an Iscoceles triangle is a triangle that has two or more congruent sides.

if a triangle is Iscoceles then th e two angles that are made by the congruent sides and base are also congruent.

if you know that one of the angles is 20 that. The sum of the other two angles must be 160.

That means that answer 2 and 4 are incorrect.

Answers 1 and 3 both have a total angle sum of 160. since this is true the correct answer depends on where the known angle is. If it is the angle that is formed by the two congruent sides than the answer is number one. but if it is formed by one of the congruent sides and the base then the answer is number 3.

Answer: 80° and 80°

20° and 140°

Step-by-step explanation:

An isosceles triangle is a kind of triangle that has two equal angles.

Given : In an isosceles triangle, one angle measures 20°.

If it is one of the equal angles , then one other angle must measures 20°.

and Third angle = 180°- 20°- 20°  [ By Angle sum property of triangle]

= 140°

i.e. the measures of other two angles would be 20° and 140°.

If it is not one of the equal angle  then we let the measure of equal angles as x.

By angle sum property of triangle , we have

x+x+20°=180°

⇒ 2x = 160°

⇒ x =80°

i.e. measures of other two angles would be 80° and 80°.

Thus , the correct choices are :

80° and 80°

20° and 140°

The perimeter of a rectangle must be less than 156 feet. If the length is known to be 66 feet, find the range of possible widths
balu736 [363]

x = perimeter

x<156

length = 66

so, in order to calculate perimeter you need to add two lengths and two widths

so

156 (perimeter) - 2 (66) = two widths

156 - 132 = 24 (remember this number is two widths added together)

so 24 twice the width SO 12 would be the number that the width can't be larger than

the width has to be less than 12

w < 12

A population of 1200 leopards decreases by 12% per year. How many leopards will there be in the population after 6 years? Round
frez [133]
12% of 1200 is 144, so subtract that. you get 1056. 12% of that is 126.72, so you subtract that. you get 929.28. 12% of that is 111.5136 and you subtract that. and so on and so forth. the answer would be 557.

Prove that the triangle EDF is isosceles. Give reasons for your answer.
Gekata [30.6K]

Answer:

\triangle EDF is isosceles.

Step-by-step explanation:

Please have a look at the attached figure.

We are <u>given</u> the following things:

\angle EDF = y

\text{External }\angle DFG = 90 +\dfrac{y}{2}

Let us try to find out \angle E and \angle DFE. After that we will compare them.

<u>Finding </u>\angle DFE<u>:</u>

Side EG is a straight line so \angle GFE = 180

\angle GFE is sum of internal \angle DFE and external \angle DFG

\angle GFE = 180 = \angle DFE  + \angle DFG\\\Rightarrow 180 = \angle DFE + (90+\dfrac{y}{2})\\\Rightarrow \angle DFE = 180 - 90 - \dfrac{y}{2}\\\Rightarrow \angle DFE = 90 - \dfrac{y}{2} ....... (1)

<u>Finding </u>\angle E<u>:</u>

<u>Property of external angle:</u> External angle in a triangle is equal to the sum of two opposite internal angles of a triangle.

i.e. external \angle DFG = \angle E + \angle EDF

\Rightarrow 90+\dfrac{y}{2} = \angle E + y\\\Rightarrow \angle E = 90+\dfrac{y}{2}  -y\\\Rightarrow \angle E = 90-\dfrac{y}{2} ....... (2)

Comparing equations (1) and (2):

It can be clearly seen that:

\angle DFE = \angle E =90-\dfrac{y}{2}

The two angles of \triangle EDF are equal hence \triangle EDF is isosceles.
