Chemistry

Answer : If an increase in temperature accompanies a reaction, energy is released.

Explanation :

In thermodynamics, the reaction is considered as a system and the medium in which the reaction occurs which is usually an aqueous medium is considered as its surrounding.

When the heat flows from the system to its surrounding, it increases the temperature of surrounding medium because the heat released by the system is absorbed by its surrounding. This is known as exothermic reaction.

An exothermic reaction is always accompanied by energy release.

On the other hand, when the heat flows from the surrounding towards system, it decreases the temperature of the surrounding medium.This is known as endothermic reaction.

From the above discussion we can say that If an increase in temperature accompanies a reaction,energy is released.

I believe the correct response would be A. Energy being absorbed, as temperature increase must for instance occur for the reaction to occur, this increase in temperature for the reacting substances indicates energy being absorbed as the reaction proceeds.

A spectator ion is an ion that exists as a reactant and a product in a chemical equation

Explanation:

When a solution of sodium hydroxide, NaOH, is mixed with hydrochloric acid, HCl, the compounds dissociate into the ions Na+, OH-, H+ and Cl-. The hydrogen and hydroxide ions react to form water, but the sodium and chlorine ions stay in solution unchanged.

The mass of 322 mL of hydrogen gas at 4.0 atm and –73°C is 1.21 grams. What is the density of hydrogen gas at STP?
Andrews [41]
To be able to answer this item, we assume that the given hydrogen gas is ideal such that we are able to use the Ideal Gas equation,
                               PV = nRT
At STP, the values of volume, pressure, and temperature are 22.4 L, 1 atm, and 273.15 K. Solving for n,
                              n = (1 atm x 22.4 L) / (0.0821 L.atm/mol K x 273.15 K)
                                                  n = 0.9988 mols
Each mol of hydrogen gas is 2 g.
                                                 m = (0.9988 mols) x (2 g/1 mol)
                                                   m = 1.9977 g
Density is the quotient of mass and volume,
                           density = 1.9977 g/ 22400 mL
                            density = 8.92 x 10^-5 g/mL

How do atoms and elements differ from each other?
strojnjashka [21]

Answer:

A particular atom will have the same number of protons and electrons and most atoms have at least as many neutrons as protons. An element is a substance that is made entirely from one type of atom. For example, the element hydrogen is made from atoms containing just one proton and one electron.
