A car traveling at 15 m/s starts to decelerate steadily. It comes to a complete stop in 10 seconds. What is it’s acceleration

*I will be using “a” for acceleration, “V” for velocity and “t” for time

Acceleration is the change in velocity over a specific period of time. In our situation, that time is 10 seconds, as the velocity went from 15m/s to 0m/s in seconds. If we say that the formula for acceleration is:

a = V2-V1/t (where V2 is the final velocity, or 0m/s, and V1 the inital, or 15m/s)

We can plug in the numbers:

a = (0-15)m/s / 10s
a = -15m/s / 10s
a = -1.5m/s^2 — we notice here that the acceleration is negative, and thats because the car is decelerating (slowing down). If the car was accelerating, or speeding up, the acceleration would be positive.

At the instant a traffic light turns green, a car starts with a constant acceleration of 1.3 m/s2. At the same instant a truck,
Bas_tet [7]

Answer:

(a) Distance traveled = 75.3846 m

(b) Velocity of car at that instant will be 14 m/sec

Explanation:

We have given acceleration of the car a=1.3m/sec^2

Initial velocity of the cart u = 0 m/sec

(a) According to second equation of motion we know that s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2

So distance traveled by car s_c=0\times t+\frac{1}{2}\times 1.3t^2=0.65t^2

As the truck is moving with constant speed

So distance traveled by truck s_t=ut=7t

As the truck overtakes the car

So s_c=s_t

0.65t^2=7t

t=10.769sec

So distance traveled s_c=s_t=7\times 10.769=75.3846m

(b) From second equation of motion we know that v = u+at

So v = 0+1.3×10.769 = 14 m /sec

sukhopar [10]

Answer:

Right shoe

Explanation:

Let the mass and velocity of incoming puck be m and v respectively.

Momentum of the colliding puck will be mv

In case of first case , the momentum of puck becomes zero so change in momentum after collision with left shoe

= mv - 0 = mv

If time duration of collision be t

rate of change of momentum

= mv / t

This is the force exerted by puck on the left shoe .

Now let us consider collision with right shoe

momentum after collision with right  shoe

- mv

change in momentum

= mv - ( - mv ) = 2mv

If time duration of collision be t

rate of change of momentum

= 2mv / t

This is the force exerted by puck on the right  shoe .

Since the force on the right shoe is more , this shoe will have greater speed

after collision.

A ball is tossed vertically upwards with a speed of 5.0 m s–1. After how many seconds will the ball return to its initial positi
mezya [45]

Answer:

1.02 seconds

Explanation:

Initial velocity = u = 5 m/s

t = Time taken

s = Displacement travelled = 0

a = Acceleration due to gravity = -9.81 m/s² (negative sign due to direction)

Equation of motion

s=ut+\frac{1}{2}at^2\\\Rightarrow 0=5t+\frac{1}{2}-9.81\times t^2\\\Rightarrow 0=5t-4.905t^2\\\Rightarrow 0=t(5-4.905t)\\\Rightarro 0=5-4.905t\\\Rightarrow t=\frac{-5}{-4.905}=1.02\ seconds

So, time taken to return to its initial position is 1.02 seconds
