<span>The height (h) of a triangle is 4 in. greater than twice its base (x): h = 2x + 4
</span>The area of the triangle is no more than 168 in.2: A ≤ 168 in²

The area of the triangle is A = x*h/2
Hence x*h/2 ≤ 168 in²

Substitute h in the formula for the area:
h = 2x + 4 = 2(x + 2)
x*h/2 ≤ 168 in²

x * 2(x + 2)/2 ≤ 168
x * (x + 2) ≤ 168
x² + 2x ≤ 168
x² + 2x - 168 ≤ 0

Using the formula for quadratic equation:
x_{1,2} = \frac{-b+/- \sqrt{ b^{2}-4ac } }{2a} = \frac{-2+/- \sqrt{ 2^{2}-4*1*(-168) } }{2*1}=  \frac{-2+/- \sqrt{ 4+672 } }{2}=  \\  \\ \frac{-2+/- \sqrt{ 676 } }{2}=\frac{-2+/- 26 }{2} \\  \\ &#10;x_1 =  \frac{-2+26}{2} = \frac{24}{2} =12 \\  \\ x_1 =  \frac{-2-26}{2} = \frac{-28}{2} =-14&#10;

Arrange the substances in the table from the MOST to the LEAST ordered particle arrangement es ) A) wood, water, neon gas B) woo
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]

Answer:

A) wood, water, neon gas

Explanation:

Matter, which constitutes every known substances is said to exists in three states namely: gaseous, solid and liquid. Each state of matter contain particles that make up their structure.

- Solids have well arranged particles that are tightly packed together to give it its solid shape. Example is wood

- Liquids have particles that are loosely packed together, hence, can still move about. Example is water

- Gases have particles that are not packed together, hence, their ability to roam freely. Example is neon gas

Based on this, the order of MOST to LEAST ordered particle arrangement is solid - liquid- gas i.e. wood - water - neon gas.

If an object on a horizontal frictionless surface is attached to a spring, displaced, and then released, it will oscillate. The
goldfiish [28.3K]

Answer:

a)0.120m

b)1.60s

c)0.625Hz

Explanation:

a)In this problem, initial displacement A=0.120m was displaced and released with zero initial speed.

The amplitude is the maximum displacement from equilibrium and it was maximum at the moment t=0.(∴The object goes from x=+A to x=-A and back to complete one cycle)

So the amplitude will be equal to the initial displacement A=0.120m

Therefore, the amplitude is 0.120m

b) movement from +A( max positive displacement) to -A (max negative displacement) took place during half the period of SHM

therefore,

0.800 s= T/2   ---> by further solving for T

T= 0.800 x 2

T=1.6 s

The period is 1.6 s

c) As we know that frequency is inversely proportional to the time period.

To find frequency:

f=1/T           (∴T=1.6)

f=1/1.6

f=0.625Hz

therefore, the frequency is 0.625 Hz
