Answer:

The answer to the question is:

Explanation:

The series motor or series excitation motors, is a type of direct current electric motor in which the armature and the inductor or excitation winding are connected in series. The applied voltage is constant, while the excitation field increases with the load, since the current is the same excitation current. The flow increases in proportion to the current in the armor, as the flow grows with the load, the velocity drops as that load increases.

The main features of this engine are:

- It is packed when it is idle, because the speed of a direct current motor increases as the inductor flow decreases and, in the series motor, this decreases with increasing speed, since the intensity in the inductor is the same as in the induced.

- The power is almost constant at any speed.

- The abrupt variations in the supply voltage affect it little, since an increase in this causes an increase in the intensity and, therefore, in the flow and the counter-electromotive force, stabilizing the absorbed intensity.

At a certain location, wind is blowing steadily at 5 mph. Suppose that the mass density of air is 0.0796 lbm/ft3 and determine t
nlexa [21]

Answer:

The radius of a wind turbine is 691.1 ft

The power generation potential (PGP) scales with speed at the rate of 7.73 kW.s/m

Explanation:

Given;

power generation potential (PGP) = 1000 kW

Wind speed = 5 mph = 2.2352 m/s

Density of air = 0.0796 lbm/ft³ = 1.275 kg/m³

Radius of the wind turbine r = ?

Wind energy per unit mass of air, e = E/m = 0.5 v² = (0.5)(2.2352)²

Wind energy per unit mass of air = 2.517 J/kg

PGP = mass flow rate * energy per unit mass

PGP = ρ*A*V*e

PGP = \rho *\frac{\pi r^2}{2} *V*e  \\\\r^2 = \frac{2*PGP}{\rho*\pi *V*e} , r=\sqrt{ \frac{2*PGP}{\rho*\pi *V*e}} = \sqrt{ \frac{2*10^6}{1.275*\pi *2.235*2.517}}

r = 210.64 m = 691.1 ft

Thus, the radius of a wind turbine is 691.1 ft

PGP = CVᵃ

For best design of wind turbine Betz limit (c) is taken between (0.35 - 0.45)

Let C = 0.4

PGP = Cvᵃ

take log of both sides

ln(PGP) = a*ln(CV)

a = ln(PGP)/ln(CV)

a = ln(1000)/ln(0.4 *2.2352) = 7.73

The power generation potential (PGP) scales with speed at the rate of 7.73 kW.s/m

Consider a resistor made of pure silicon with a cross-sectional area pf 0.5 μm2, and a length of 50 μm. What is the resistance o
lukranit [14]

Answer: 24 pA

Explanation:

As pure silicon is a semiconductor, the resistivity value is strongly dependent of temperature, as the main responsible for conductivity, the number of charge carriers (both electrons and holes) does.

Based on these considerations, we found that at room temperature, pure silicon resistivity can be approximated as 2.1. 10⁵  Ω  cm.

The resistance R of a given resistor, is expressed by the following formula:

R = ρ L / A

Replacing by the values for resistivity, L and A, we have

R = 2.1. 10⁵ Ω  cm. (10⁴ μm/cm). 50 μm/ 0.5 μm2

R = 2.1. 10¹¹ Ω

Assuming that we can apply Ohm´s Law, the current that would pass through this resistor for an applied voltage of 5 V, is as follows:

I = V/R = 5 V / 2.1.10¹¹ Ω = 2.38. 10⁻¹¹ A= 24 pA

A stream leaving a sewage pond (containing 80 mg/L of sewage) moves as a plug with a velocity of 40 m/hr. A concentration of 50
Leno4ka [110]

Answer:Decay rate constant,k  = 0.00376/hr

Explanation:

IsT Order  Rate of reaction is given as

In At/ Ao = -Kt

where [A]t is the final concentration at time  t  and  [A]o  is the inital concentration at time 0, and  k  is the first-order rate constant.

Initial concentration = 80 mg/L

Final concentration = 50 mg/L

Velocity = 40 m/hr

Distance= 5000 m

Time taken = Distance / Time

              5000m / 40m/hr = 125 hr

In At/ Ao = -Kt

In 50/80 = -Kt

-0.47 = -kt

- K= -0.47 / 125

k = 0.00376

Decay rate constant,k  = 0.00376/hr
