Find the surface area of the prism
AfilCa [17]

Answer:

156 in^2

Step-by-step explanation:

find the areas of all the faces and add them up

area of a rectangle: bh

area of a trapezoid: \frac{1}{2} (b_1 + b_2)(h)

(5*3)+(6*3)+(5*3)+(3*12)+2(\frac{1}{2}*(6+12)*4) \\=15+18+15+36+2(\frac{1}{2}*18*4)\\=84+2(36)\\=156

the area of the trapezoid is multiplied by 2 because there's a top and bottom

1. The diagonal of a quadrilateral
zalisa [80]

Consider the length of diagonal is 8.5 cm instead of 8.5 m because length of perpendiculars are in cm.

Given:

Length of the diagonal of a quadrilateral = 8.5 cm

Lengths  of the perpendiculars dropped on  it from the remaining opposite  vertices are 3.5 cm and 4.5 cm.

To find:

The area of the quadrilateral.

Solution:

Diagonal divides the quadrilateral in 2 triangles. If diagonal is the base of both triangles then the lengths  of the perpendiculars dropped on  it from the remaining opposite  vertices are heights of those triangles.

According to the question,

Triangle 1 :  Base = 8.5 cm and Height = 3.5 cm

Triangle 2 :  Base = 8.5 cm and Height = 4.5 cm

Area of a triangle is

Area=\dfrac{1}{2}\times base \times height

Using this formula, we get

Area(\Delta 1)=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 8.5\times 3.5

Area(\Delta 1)=14.875

and

Area(\Delta 2)=\dfrac{1}{2}\times 8.5\times 4.5

Area(\Delta 2)=19.125

Now, area of the quadrilateral is

Area=Area(\Delta 1)+Area(\Delta 2)

Area=14.875+19.125

Area=34

Therefore, the area of the quadrilateral is 34 cm².

Hi there!

\large\boxed{\text{ UVY} = 65^o, \text{ VYZ }= 65^o}

We can begin by finding ∠VUY so we can solve for ∠UVY.

∠VUY is supplementary to ∠TUY, so:

180 = 144 + ∠VUY

∠VUY = 36°

In a triangle, angles sum up to 180°, so:

180 = 36° + 79° + m∠UVY

m∠UVY = 65°

Solve for m∠VYZ by comparing the angle to m∠UVY because the angles are alternating interior angles. Thus:

m∠UVY = m∠VYZ = 65°.

A truck can be rented from Company A for $100 a day plus $0.40 per mile. Company B charges $20dayplus $0.90 per mile to rent the
dangina [55]

Answer:

the number of miles is 160

Step-by-step explanation:

The computation is given below:

Let us assume the miles be x

For company A

y = $100 + $0.40x

And, for company B

y = $20 + $0.90x

In order to find out the number of miles, the rental cost of the company A should be less than the company B rental cost

SO,

$20 + $0.90x > $100 + $0.40x

Subtract $20 from both sides

0.90x > 80 + 0.40x

Now subtract 0.40x from both sides

0.50x >80

x>160

So the number of miles is 160
