Answer:

68cm

Explanation:

You can solve this problem by using the momentum conservation and energy conservation. By using the conservation of the momentum you get

p_f=p_i\\mv_1+Mv_2=(m+M)v

m: mass of the bullet

M: mass of the pendulum

v1: velocity of the bullet = 410m/s

v2: velocity of the pendulum =0m/s

v: velocity of both bullet ad pendulum joint

By replacing you can find v:

(0.038kg)(410m/s)+0=(0.038kg+4.2kg)v\\\\v=3.67\frac{m}{s}

this value of v is used as the velocity of the total kinetic energy of the block of pendulum and bullet. This energy equals the potential energy for the maximum height reached by the block:

E_{fp}=E_{ki}\\\\(m+M)gh=\frac{1}{2}mv^2

g: 9.8/s^2

h: height

By doing h the subject of the equation and replacing you obtain:

(0.038kg+4.2kg)(9.8m/s^2)h=\frac{1}{2}(0.038kg+4.2kg)(3.67m/s)^2\\\\h=0.68m

hence, the heigth is 68cm

Answer:

 avriage force F = 2722.5 N

Explanation:

For this problem we can use Newton's second law, to calculate the average force and acceleration we can find it by kinematics.

      vf² = v₀² - 2 ax

The final carriage speed is zero (vf = 0)

      0 = v₀² - 2ax

      a = v₀² / 2x

      a = 1.1²/(2 0.200)

      a = 3.025 m / s²

      a = 3.0 m/s²

We calculate the average force

      F = ma

      F = 900 3,025

      F = 2722.5 N

What is the length of a spring that has 450J of potential energy and a spring constant of 650N/m?
11111nata11111 [884]

Answer:

Δx = 1.2 m

Explanation:

The CHANGE of spring length) (Δx) can be found using PS = ½kΔx²

Δx = √(2PS/k) = √(2(450)/650) = 1.17669... ≈ 1.2 m

The actual length of the spring is unknown as it varies with material type, construction method, extension or compression, and other variables we have no clue about.

You measure the power delivered by a battery to be 4.26 W when it is connected in series with two equal resistors. How much powe
gtnhenbr [62]

Answer:

<em>The power delivered by the battery is 17.04 W</em>

Explanation:

Power through a circuit is given as

P = IV    ....1

where P is the power

I is the current through the circuit

V is the voltage through the circuit

The voltage in a circuit is given as

V = IR    ....2

Let us take the value of each resistor as equal to R

when connected in series, the total resistance will be

R_{t} = R + R = 2R

If we assume constant voltage through the circuit, then from equation 2, the current in this case is

I = V/2R

If the resistors are connected in parallel, then the total resistance will be

\frac{1}{R_{t} } = \frac{1}{R} +

R_{t} = R/2

The current in this case will be increased since the resistance is reduced

I = 2V/R

comparing the two situations, we can see that the current increased when connected in parallel to a ratio of

\frac{2V}{R} ÷  \frac{V}{2R} =

This means that the current increased 4 times

From equation 1, we can see that electrical power is proportional to the current at a constant voltage, therefore, the power will also increase by four times to

P = 4 x 4.26 = <em>17.04 W</em>
