The slope of the function for rise/run would be 3/2, this is because;
The function passes through (-5,1) and (1,10). Lets find the change on the y and x axis.
For the x axis;
-5 to 1.
That is a change of positive 6.
-5+6=1
For the y axis;
1 to 10.
That is a change of positive 9.
1+9=10
For the slope we must put rise (change in y axis) over run (change in x axis) to get 3/2 when simplified from 9/6.
For every 2 units of rise in the x axis the y axis rises by 3.

Dudley is biking. He wants to cover 40 miles. If he travels 30 miles every 2 ours, what is the equation of a line that models y,
fgiga [73]

Answer:

y=40-15x

Step-by-step explanation:

Let x represent the number of hours.

We have been given that Dudley travels 30 miles every 2 hours, so distance covered in each hour by Dudley would be:

.

Since Dudley travels 15 km per hour, so distance covered in x hours would be 15x.

We have been given that Dudley wants to cover 40 miles. So we can represent our given information in an equation as:

, where, y represents number of miles he has left to travel, after biking x hours.

What is the distance between the points (5,7)and (-3,4) on the coordinate plane
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

\boxed{D = 8.5 \ units}

Step-by-step explanation:

The coordinates are (5,7) and (-3,4)

Distance Formula = \sqrt{(x2-x1)^2+(y2-y1)^2}

D = \sqrt{(-3-5)^2+(4-7)^2}

D = \sqrt{(-8)^2+(-3)^2}

D = \sqrt{64+9}

D = \sqrt{73}

D = 8.5 units
