Granulated sugar has a greater surface area showing than sugar cubes do. Since it has more surface area showing, more sugar molecules can interact with the water at the same time allowing it to dissolve faster than a cube of sugar where only the molecules on the outside of the cube are exposed to the water.

if 30.0L of oxygen are cooled from 200 degrees celsius to 1 degree celsius at constant pressure, what is the new volume of oxyge
Sergio039 [100]

Answer: 18.65L

Explanation:

Given that,

Original volume of oxygen (V1) = 30.0L

Original temperature of oxygen (T1) = 200°C

[Convert temperature in Celsius to Kelvin by adding 273.

So, (200°C + 273 = 473K)]

New volume of oxygen V2 = ?

New temperature of oxygen T2 = 1°C

(1°C + 273 = 274K)

Since volume and temperature are given while pressure is held constant, apply the formula for Charle's law

V1/T1 = V2/T2

30.0L/473K = V2/294K

To get the value of V2, cross multiply

30.0L x 294K = 473K x V2

8820L•K = 473K•V2

Divide both sides by 473K

8820L•K / 473K = 473K•V2/473K

18.65L = V2

Thus, the new volume of oxygen is 18.65 liters.

To a 25.00 mL volumetric flask, a lab technician adds a 0.150 g sample of a weak monoprotic acid, HA , and dilutes to the mark w
Elis [28]

<u>Answer:</u> The number of moles of weak acid is 4.24\times 10^{-3} moles.

<u>Explanation:</u>

To calculate the moles of KOH, we use the equation:

\text{Molarity of the solution}=\frac{\text{Moles of solute}}\text{Volume of solution (in L)}}

We are given:

Volume of solution = 43.81 mL = 0.04381 L      (Conversion factor: 1L = 1000 mL)

Molarity of the solution = 0.0969 moles/ L

Putting values in above equation, we get:

0.0969mol/L=\frac{\text{Moles of KOH}}{0.04381}\\\\\text{Moles of KOH}=4.24\times 10^{-3}mol

The chemical reaction of weak monoprotic acid and KOH follows the equation:

HA+KOH\rightarrow KA+H_2O

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

1 mole of KOH reacts with 1 mole of weak monoprotic acid.

So, 4.24\times 10^{-3}mol of KOH will react with = \frac{1}{1}\times 4.24\times 10^{-3}=4.24\times 10^{-3}mol of weak monoprotic acid.

Hence, the number of moles of weak acid is 4.24\times 10^{-3} moles.
