1/4a+1/3=1/3a+5/4

1/4a-1/3a+1/3=1/3a-1/3a+5/4

1/4a-1/3a+1/3=5/4

1/4a-1/3a+1/3-1/3=5/4-1/3

1/4a-1/3a=5/4-1/3

Figure the common denominator for 1/4a,1/3a, 5/4 and -1/3 which is 12

Multiply by 3 for 1/4a. (1)(3)/4(3a)=3/12a

Multiply by 4 for 1/3a. (1)(4)(3)(4a)=4/12a

Multiply by 3 for 5/4. (5)(3)/4(3)=15/12

Multiply by 4 for -1/3. (-1)(4)(3)(4)=-4/12

3/12a-4/12a=15/12-4/12

-1/12a=11/12

Multiply by -12/1 for -1/12a and 11/12

-1/12(-12/1)a=11/12(-12/1)

Cross out 12 and -12 , divide by 12 and then becomes -11.

Cross out -12 and -12 , divide by 12 and then becomes 1.

Cross out -1 and 1, divide by 1 and then becomes 1.

1*1*a=-11

a=-11

Answer: a=-11

Alex drew the triangles shown. Which of the following correctly describes the triangles? 2 triangles are shown. Each triangle ha
evablogger [386]

Answer: D. Both triangles have an obtuse angle

This is because it says "Each triangle has <u>1 obtuse angle</u> and 2 acute angles" in the instructions. An obtuse angle is any angle between 90 and 180 degrees, excluding both endpoints.

The height of the sail on a boat is 7 feet less than 3 times the length of its base. If the The area of the sail is 68 square fe
Dima020 [189]

Step-by-step explanation:

It is given that,

The height of the sail on a boat is 7 feet less than 3 times the length of its base.

Let the length of the base is x.

ATQ,

Height = (3x-7)

Area of the sail is 68 square feet.

Formula for area is given by :

A=lb\\\\68=x(3x-7)\\\\3x^2-7x=68\\\\3x^2-7x-68=0

x = 8 feet and x = -3.73 feet

So, length is 8 feet

Height is 3(8)-7 = 17 feet.

So, its height and the length of the base is 17 feet and 8 feet respectively.

Alex

Answer:

- \frac{61}{11}

Step-by-step explanation:

\frac{x}{y} = \frac{5}{6} ( cross- multiply )

6x = 5y ( divide both sides by 6 )

x = \frac{5}{6} y

Then

\frac{5x+6y}{5x-6y} ← substitute x = \frac{5}{6} y into the expression

= \frac{\frac{25}{6}y+6y }{\frac{25}{6}y-6y }

= \frac{\frac{61}{6}y }{-\frac{11}{6}y }

= \frac{\frac{61}{6} }{-\frac{11}{6} }

= \frac{61}{6} × - \frac{6}{11}

= - \frac{61}{11}

Use the digits 2,3,and 5 to create a fraction and a whole number with a product greater than 2
mylen [45]

Product is multiplication.

Since the answer needs to be greater than 2 either the fraction needs to be an improper fraction ( meaning the fraction would be greater than 1) or the whole number would need to be greater than 2.

One answer would be 5 x 2/3 = 3 1/3
