atoms are made of particles that have a negative charge.

Explanation:

Using a cathode ray tube, Thomson confirmed that atoms are made up of particles that have a negative charge.

In 1897 J.J Thomson performed experiments on the gas discharge tube that led to discovery of the electron or cathode ray as subatomic particle.

Here are some of the properties of this ray;

 • they move in a straight line normal to the cathode and can cast the shadow of an object placed along their path.
 • posses kinetic energy and can cause motion of mechanical paddle.
 • attracts positive charge and repel negative charge indicating that they are negatively charged.

Design a tension member and slip-critical splice to carry a factored load of 500 kips. Please use a wide-flange section for the
Svetlanka [38]

Answer:

Kindly check the explanation section.

Explanation:

For the design we are asked for in this question/problem there is the need for us to calculate or determine the strength in fracture and that of the yield. Also, we need to calculate for the block shear strength.

From the question, we have that the factored load = 500kips. Also, note that the tension splice must not slip.

Also, the shear force are resisted by friction, that is to say shear resistance = 1.13 × Tb × Ns.

Assuming our db = 3/4 inches, then the slip critical resistance to shear service load = 18ksi(refer to AISC manual for the table).

If db = 7/8 inches, then the shear force resistance for n bolt = 10.2kips, n > 49.6.

The yielding strength = 0.9 × Aj × Fhb= 736 kips > 500

The fracture strength = .75 × Ah × Fhb = 309 kips.

The bearing strength of 7/8 inches bolt at the edge hole and other holes = 46 kips and 102 kips.

Please answer correctly
will give the brainliest
Urgent
EastWind [94]

Answer:

f (frequency) = V / y where V is the speed of sound and y the wavelength

f = 1500 m/s / 1.5 m = 1000 / sec

T (period) = 1 / f = .001 sec

Suppose you replace the horn by a drum then the period would be the time between the beats of the drum - now if the source is moving towards the observer then the distance between crests of the wave produced by the drum will be shortened by V * T because of the motion of the drum "towards" the observer, and since the wavelength is shorter the frequency heard by the observer will be higher, and the higher the speed of of the car the shorter the wavelength as seen by the observer and the higher the frequency.

Also, if the car is moving away from the observer then the distance between the crests of the wave emitted will be further apart, and the observer will hear a lower frequency.

Blue bumper car, traveling east with a force of 100 N, runs into a yellow bumper car traveling west with a force of 300 N. Becau
Pani-rosa [81]

Answer:

the blue bumper car

Explanation:

because the yellow bumper car is coming in with much more force

and according to Newton, actions and reactions are equal and opposite, so the yellow bumper car will five out 300N while the blue car will give out only 100N

then it almost because a fight between 300N vs 100N

and obviously, the 300N will win and the 100N will be pushed back
