Answer:

They will blink 4 times together in one minute.

Step-by-step explanation:

The amount it takes for them to blink together is the least common multiple between the time it takes for each of them to blink together.

The red light blinks each 3 seconds.

The blue light blinks each 5 seconds.

The least common multiple between 3 and 5 is 15. So they will blink together each 15 seconds.

Each minute has 60 seconds. So they will blink 60/15 = 4 times together in one minute.

Find the lowest common multiple of 3 and 5, that is 15

the lights will blink together every 15 seconds

in 1 minute blink together \frac{60}{15} = 4 times

that is at 15, 30, 45 and 60

A geologist visits 90 volcanoes in Alaska and California
Viktor [21]

Answer:

40 volcanoes = 100% of them           15% were in California so if we want to know how much % were in Alaska we do 100% - 15% which equals 85%, so 85% were in Alaska.      Now to find out how many the geologist visited in each state multiply 40 by the percentage.       Number of volcanoes in California = 15% of 40 volcanoes = 0.15 x 40 = 6Number of volcanoes in Alaska = 85% of 40 volcanoes 0.85 x 40 = 34
