Mass is the actual amount of material contained in a body and is measured in kg, gm, etc. Whereas weight is the force exerted by the gravity on that object mg.

A box has a mass of 35kg.he pulls the rope horizontally with a force of 175 N. Find the horizontal acceleration of the box as it
Cloud [144]

Answer:

3.43 m/s^2

Explanation:

Force is equal to mass times acceleration. (F=ma). You can use inverse operations to get the formula for acceleration, which is acceleration is equal to force divided by mass. (a=F/m). Since there are two forces here, the force friction (55 N), and the force applied (175 N), we must solve for the net force. To solve for the net force, you take the applied force (175 N) and subtract the frictional force from it (55 N). Thus, the net force is 120 N. With this done, we can now solve for our acceleration.

Using the equation for acceleration, we take the force and divide it by mass.

120/35

Answer: 3.43* m/s^2**

*Note: This is rounded to the nearest hundredth, the full answer is: 3.42857143

**Note: In case you're confused, this is meters per second squared.

What force acts between Earth and the moon?<br><br> gravity<br> mass<br> motion<br> newtons
Serggg [28]

Answer:

Gravity

Explanation:

Mass and motion are not forces and newton is unit of force. Gravity is defined as force of attraction or repulsion between two bodies and hence is the answer.

What is the root mean square speed of an As4 particle as it is sublimed? (Assume at high temperatures arsenic acts like an ideal
Norma-Jean [14]

Answer: v_{rms} = 273m/s

Explanation: <u>Root</u> <u>Mean</u> <u>Square</u> <u>Speed</u> of an atom or molecule is the speed of a particle in a gas. It is the average speed a particle in a gas can have.

It can be calculated:

\frac{1}{2}mv^{2} = \frac{3}{2} k_{B}T

v^{2} = \frac{3k_{B}T}{m}

v = \sqrt{\frac{3k_{B}T}{m}}

m is mass of one atom or molecule in kg.

An atom of Arsenic sublimes at 614°C. Converting to Kelvin:

T = 614 + 273 = 887K

Molecular mass of As4 is approximately 0.3kg.

m = \frac{0.3}{6.10^{23}}

m=5.10^{-25}kg

Calculating Root mean square speed :

v = \sqrt{\frac{3*1.4.10^{-23}*887}{5.10^{-25}}

v = \sqrt{745.08.10^{2}

v = 273m/s

<u>The root mean square speed of As4 is approximately </u><u>273m/s</u><u>.</u>
