Which atom absorbs more energy, one in which an electron moves from the second shell to the third shell or an otherwise identica
Assoli18 [71]

Answer:

identical atom in which an electron moves from the first to the third shell.

Atoms may occupy different energy states. The energy states are discrete, i.e. they occur at specific values only. Therefore an atom can only move to a new energy level if it absorbs or emits an amount of energy that exactly corresponds to the difference between two energy levels.

The lowest possible energy level that the atom can occupy is called the ground state. This is the energy state that would be considered normal for the atom.

An excited state is an energy level of an atom, ion, or molecule in which an electron is at a higher energy level than its ground state.

An electron is normally in its ground state, the lowest energy state available. After absorbing energy, it may jump from the ground state to a higher energy level, called an excited state.

A certain ore is 24.3% nickel by mass. how many kilograms of this ore would you need to dig up to have 55.0 g of nickel?
zysi [14]
Let x be the mass of the ore in grams such that the equation that would allow us to answer this item would be,

                     55 = (x)(0.243)

The value of x is calculated as,

                 x = 55/0.243
                   x = 226.337 grams

Then, solve for amount in kilograms by dividing the calculated value by 1000. This methodology will give us an answer of 0.226337. Hence, the answer is 0.226.

How would you find the atomic number, atomic mass, protons, neutrons and electrons for ions and isotopes? Is it similar?
cricket20 [7]

Atomic number = number of protons

atomic mass = atomic number + number of neutrons

protons = electrons after ion effect

neutrons = atomic mass - atomic number

electrons = number of proton plus charge for -ve ion OR minus for +ve ion

They are different, representing different properties...

7.6 The diagrams show the atoms in four different substances. Each circle represents an atom.
Illusion [34]

Answer:

A and C represent elements while B and D represent Compounds

Explanation:

chemical elements cannot be broken down into simpler substances by any chemical reaction. While A chemical compound is a chemical substance composed of many identical molecules composed of atoms from more than one element held together by chemical bonds
