A chunk of ice whose temperature is –20°C is added to an insulated cup filled with water at 0°C. What happens in the cup? The ic

e melts until it reaches the temperature of the water. ***The water cools until it reaches the temperature of the ice.*** Some of the water freezes, so the chunk of ice gets larger. none of the above (maybe?)

It's the first one, but technically water turns to ice if it's 0 C or less.

Gaseous ethane reacts with gaseous oxygen gas to produce gaseous carbon dioxide and gaseous water . What is the theoretical yiel
Effectus [21]

Answer:

1) Write the balanced equation:

2C2H6 + 7O2 ---> 4CO2 + 6H2O

2) Determine limiting reagent:

C2H6 ⇒ 13.8 g / 30.0694 g/mol = 0.45894 mol

O2 ⇒ 45.8 g / 31.9988 g/mol = 1.4313 mol

C2H6 ⇒ 0.45894 / 2 = 0.22947

O2 ⇒ 1.4313 / 7 = 0.20447

Oxygen is limiting.

3) Determine theoretical yield of water:

The oxygen : water molar ratio is 7 : 6

7 is to 6 as 1.4313 mol is to x

x = 1.2268286 mol of water

4) Convert moles of water to grams:

1.2268286 mol times 18.015 g/mol = 22.1 g (to three sig figs)

Solution to (b):

14.2 g / 22.1 g = 64.2%

Why is pure silicon a poor conductor at room temperature?
Georgia [21]
Because pure silicon is a perfect semiconductor.

For room temperature, it rarely conducts, you can search for the threshold temperature, the characteristic equation is fairly complicated.

Which is an example of pure chemistry
Alexeev081 [22]

Examples of pure substances include tin, sulfur, diamond, water, pure sugar, table salt and baking soda. Crystals, in general, are pure substances. Tin, sulfur, and diamond are examples of pure substances which are chemical elements. All elements are pure substances.

Answer:

Example A describes a physical change and Example B describes a chemical change.

Explanation:

Physical Change

The changes that occur only due to change in shape or physical properties but their chemical or internal composition remain unchanged.

These changes were reversible.

They have same chemical property.

These changes can be observed with naked eye.

Example :

Vegetables are chopped and converted into smaller pieces the composition remain same. It is physical change.

Water converting to Ice

Water converting to gas

In this water molecule remain the same only they rearrange themselves that change its state of mater not composition

Chemical change:

The changes, that occur due to change in the composition of a substance and result in a different compound is known as chemical change.

These changes are irreversible

These changes occur due to chemical reactions

These may not be observed with naked eye

Example:

Combustion of fuel or wood: that oil or wood convert into energy, CO2 and ash in case of wood

Boiling of egg: that change the chemical composition of protein in the egg .

Food is broken up into simpler form during digestion and convert into the energy and particles which are different from original compound .
